Pioneer AVIC-N2 bypass questions...

I am getting a Pioneer AVIC-N2 installed later this week and have read in quite a few other forums about the bypass to get the DVD/NAV to work while driving. Has anybody had any experience with this?

Here's what I have read from the 12volt forum:

Below are instructions on how to bypass the lockouts on the Pioneer AVIC-N2 and AVIC-D1. It is real simple, and does not require any complex switches or anything. We figure these are service or testing modes, and were not intended to become public. Our Pioneer guy claims to not know anything about it, but who knows, that may just be a line.

This bypass will do three things:
1. Makes all nav functions available while driving (just like they should be)
2. Make video playback available while driving
3. No more parking brake warning box!!!

AVIC-N2 lockout bypass: Underneath the MAIN unit (not the hideaway) is a small silver sticker, peel this back. There are two contacts with the label "R197". Drop a bit of solder between these to connect them. Also, you must ground the Parking Brake wire.

Any help would be appreciated!!

ive done where you bridge the two connections together under neath the silver sticker as well as grounding the parking brake wire and it worked great.

It fills up quick.

Ive done that method once, but others have done it as well with it working. Although be forewarned Pioneer is aware of it and it will void the warranty. Just a heads up.

Correct me if I misunderstood but the DVD/NAV wont work while your driving?!?! I happen to be saving up for this same flip out....ALSO, by any chance might the flip out still be compatible with your steering wheel controls?

Thats correct without "modding" the unit.

No not unless you buy additional parts.

Any inside as to when new models will be out? I think i might get a good deal on the N2 - $1600 (installed) and modded even if i ask for it. Is that any good? Besides what more could you possibly get from a newer model, another 1/2 inch on the screen!?
