very aggrivated...

alright, so i got my subs fri and got my amp to day and hooked only one of them up because i only have one of the amps at this time. Well i must say something must be wrong because i am dissappointed in this system. my one twelve inch solo L7 hitt harder than my ti 15". Not exactly sure why either. I know these things have way more potential than i am seeing. they are in a sealed box approxamatly 1.5 cubic feet chambers although they displace .30. I am really hoping it is the box. I know i hooked everything up right i have been doing this crap for over 10 years and am very carefull about how i hook every thing up. Does this sub look like the 15" pro or regular? If it is the pro i probably need alot more power. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

one big inefficient 15 in a small sealed box will not be as loud as a 12 ported with that same amp you have. IMO i would go no lower than 1.75 gross cubes even 2 cubes per sub sealed. port that 15 for some nice spl if you crave it but you have 2 so you are fine. 1.5 cubes gross is very very small and i doubt those woofers are "small box optimized". with 2 cubes gross you get at least 1.7 which is much better. build a better box then let us know.

what slick said. put that sub in a larger box. my 15 is in a 2.0 net, and it gets plenty loud.

If you used just one of those subs with both amps, and used a ported box, I'm sure you can achieve the output that you were looking for.

Doubtful. Look at the surround on that beast! What's your excursion, like 3" with that woofer? That sub is going to be sucking for air in that tiny box. Slick's right. I bet you that sub is creating a vacuum keeping it from reaching full excursion. You're probably just warming the voice coils instead of hitting the lows! I doubt that even stuffing the box would help at this point. Aim for 2.0 - 2.5 cubes sealed (make sure to add the .3 for both your speaker). Better yet, if Eclipse gave you a spec sheet maybe someone here has some software to calculate a better box size.

Did you buy 2 of those?! You're going to suck your eyeballs out of your head! I envy you!

stuffing the box won't help with output. it just helps with the reproduction of the deeper bass frequencies.

Man what really sucks about this whole deal is that the sub is bigger than your whole upper body

yeah start doing military presses with 1 on each hand. on a serious note, if you are using 2 of those big boys...I say use 1" MDF or 2 layers of 3/4" mdf for the next box.

Definately use a larger enclosure. I ran mine (12s) in 1.5 each. They did get plenty loud though.

try putting it in a 2.0 net box. it'll help with the low end.

Eh, the sub isn't going to get USED to the box. It's not a variable.
