3-way front, but no sub. For now. The product isnt completely finished and may end up being compatible with the DCU unit.
Stop reading Mannys posts, he puts them up before we even finish the convo.

No one actually said it wasnt going to happen, as stated above, its not completed yet. I could care less I have processor already. No need for that digital TA crap.
So how you gonna get rid of your hu and do three way active? Or you gonna run the dyn's off the passives? or combo and eclipse unit with your processor in your glove?
I mean, t/a crap aside, you could certainly use more flexibility in x/o's and an EQ.

1. Ural GD is next on my agenda
2. 9861/h701 combo is my next option pricewise if that fails...
3. If i come across some toy money i may even dive into a Zapco HU/DSP setup
Certainly if Eclipse offers control of a DCU105(or alike ) processor it'll get my consideration, but thats NOT going to happen this year for shizzle...

Im only using a pair of channels from the Eclipse. The DXE suits me fine. Although most likely an outboard EQ may be in the works. A pair of MEQ30s should do the trick.

Some Russian HU that he believes to be the be all, end all.....
I hope he does. I could care less. But I wont sell him one.
I didn't know that russian HU had processing. I'll have to read up on it. suprised he's not looking DRZ. He keeps his car so clean and nice. I thought he'd really appreciate such a classy looking HU. I miss mine being in my dash.... soo sexy.
however (and I'm sure the Eclipse would have had some shortcomings because of this if it were a 4 way active), you can only fit so much $hit in a little box.

What does Don have to do with anything? .

There's nothing wrong with Alpine, there are just better decks with better feautures in one chassis....but as you and I know with the control of a H701 nothing compares flexibilitywise outside an F1 setup period.

Got a link for the Russian HU? Would like to have a lookee!

Looks like Crutchfield has the new Eclipse HU listed on their site. Here is some additional info on the CD7000:
Looking to add a splash of color to your dash? Then fix your gaze on the high-definition Organic EL display on Eclipse's CD7000 CD player. More vivid than standard displays, it complements the stereo's motorized, slide-open faceplate with a striking array of background images and eye-catching animations.
Circle Surround II sound processing allows you to create a realistic surround sound effect in the car, no matter where your speakers are located. Eclipse DSP gives you access to a 7-band parametric EQ and time alignment capability. Pair all that control with the CD7000's powerful onboard amp, and you've got a recipe for outstanding sound quality from all your recordings.
The CD7000's Memory Stick input adds a convenient storage option for your MP3 and WMA music files. Add an optional SIRIUS satellite radio to get 120+ channels of music, sports, news, and entertainment, or use the optional iPod interface to control your iPod right from the stereo's faceplate. You can even upgrade your AM/FM experience with the optional HD Radio tuner. An auxiliary input is on hand for your portable music player.
Three sets of preamp outputs make it easier to build a full amp/sub system, and the high-powered 5-volt signal ensures clean sound from all your speakers. Subwoofer controls let you manage your bass right from the driver's seat, while five selectable filter settings allow you to optimize speaker performance. Traveling with a crowd? The wireless remote lets everyone get in on the game.

I find it very funny the features we are excited about for the CD7000 versus the features that Crutchfield highlights, and the way that Crutchfield describes such a great unit. They reallllly dumb it down for the mainstream consumer market.
I didn't see any shots of the Alpine 6-Series BMW that they did. That thing was amazing...as their cars usually are. Alpine's OEM integration piece was kind of a joke though. No real EQ adjustability. No shot's of Eclipse's models?
I've talked to a guy that has probably heard all of the top HU's including F#!. He sells ultra high end car and extremely expensive watches on ebay. I believe he's an international Arc Audio sales rep that lives in Taiwan. Currently he has a Rainbow Reference 2-way component set in his car. I've talked with him alot and used his car audio advise many times because he has heard/owned it all and he listens to all types of music at very high volumes (as do I). His advise led me to buy my Scan Speak Revelator tweets and my Focal 7w2's. Anyways, enough about him. He told me about the Russian HU a while back. He said it has a really nice SQ. He also said, in some ways, it's better sounding than the F#1 but, It's very cheap looking/feeling. I'm not sure if it's the same Russian HU you guys are talking about but, I've only heard of one Russian HU. Personaly I'm going to stick with my P9 until something comes out that's ALOT better and not $7000.

He said that the Reference tweets are the ****, and he likes 'em better than the Revelators but the there's nothing special about the mids, they're no better than the 7w2's. He also previously had a set of Focal Utopia Be 3-way components but, he likes the Reference set better. He said he has been to the Rainbow factory in germany and he has seen them handmake everything (even their low end stuff), they also test everything they make within the confines of three different sized vehicles. I don't doubt anything this guy says because I've seen him sell his previous audio set ups on ebay, he often sells watches costing as much as $50,000, and he has 100% feedback.

Im sure he was very pleased with the References. And of course over the Utopia Be

Although through conversation with the rep in the US as well as with Germany. They supposedly dont make Everything in house....
OK, I was trying to remember what he told me off the top of my head but, I misinformed you guys about a few things so I dug up part of our conversation in my email.
Here's exactly what he told me:
"Hi Sean,
Yup...time to say goodbye to the Scan's. As to the Rainbow, the $10,000USD price tag is for the 3 way system...I've cut back on my system design and going the the 2 way at $7000.00USD....Hmmm, "$7000.00USD"... that's what I call "cutting back"!!! I'm sick!
The Reference tweeters are incredibly and far out perform the Scan's. The truth about the mid-bass is that there's NOTHING special about them. A good pair of FOCAL UTOPIA 7W2 can do just as well...but the design of the crossover brings everything together nicely. Rainbow is probably the only manufacturer that designs all and I mean "all" of their crossovers, even their 179.00USD low end 2 way system, is all designed in the physical confines of 5 different size cars. That makes the world of difference...I went to visit Rainbow in Germany with a company here in Taiwan and I was very impressed to see a 5 cars sitting in their factory.
As to designing your system...you're right, mistakes are costly.
CD Player:
Be care full with ALPINE. The high end Alpines have quite good vocals but they play terrible when it comes to frequencies in the sub woofer range.
CLARION DRZ9255...Absolutely amazing with sub woofer frequencies, very wide and very deep sound stage. Weakness, can feel a little cold at times.
I tested a CD player that ...get this: made in Russia. It arrived last week at one of my distributor friend and it blows NAKAMICHI 700II away and it;s cheap...but the problem is that it looks cheap and I mean very cheap....but the sound just floored me...it's almost as if it was accidentally made to sound so good.
Search ebay GERMANY and buy yourself an older GRUNDIG 1910CD PLAYER...believe me, it's cheap but it uses the very, very, very expensive PHILIPS TRANSPORT SYSTEM THAT IS FOUND IN MANY $20,000USD HOME SYSTEMS.
Another well kept secret is ALPINE 7878, it's internals are about 90% the same as the F#1 7990. But I'm not sure if the US carries or carried 7878.
Arc Audio Flatline...we tested it here in Taiwan before it went into production and for the money, it's well worth it.
Pics...need another week. The guys made my door panel last week that looked like I can serve rice in the speaker pods...they're doing it again.
Kind Regards,
Anthony"
