FM Modulator in my maxima (Apple Ipod)

Sorry if this has been asked before but I want to put a Apple Ipod in my car to run out of my radio, I don't like the fm transmitter they give you because of alot of static so I read about a FM modulator and I decided that I would like to give it a shot. My radio doesn't come with rca jacks at all and I am asking what do I need to do to my car for my apple to work with the radio? I found a FM modulator for 29.99 but I heard that I also need a antenna and some other piece for the maxima.

Can someone assist me on this? What's the best way to do this for good sound?

First, please read the stickies to see if that answers your question. If it doesn't:

Are you running stock? Bose/non-Bose? Aftermarket HU? What year is your car?

We need more information in order to help you out.

What is the model of your JVC unit? I know that some units have a CD changer input, and for about $15, you can purchase an adapter that uses the CD changer input and converts it to aux. Check with JVC or post model number.

Don't get the I-trip (I-Jip). It doesn't hold on to selected stations...more static than music, and not better than a cassette adapter.

Since it sounds like you already have an aftermarket head unit, I don't think you'll need an additional antenna adapter. The FM modulator will connect inline between your current antenna and your head unit, so you should be fine.

I just checked Crutchfield's web site, and under the Accessories page for your headunit, it lists a universal FM Modulator for $29.99 by Scosche.

Accessories page: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Y4Y9VCu...257kdar260#Tab

Modulator: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Y4Y9VCu...p?i=142FMMOD01

So yes, this is definitely possible. Good luck!

OK, I've got an I-trip for sale. Is that enough of a reason for you not to buy it?

6 bucks and its yours.

got an FM transmitter for my friend's car.. the thing sucks *****. I would have gotten the cassette adapter but her OEM player has no cassette. Avoid FM transmitters they sound like ***. It's not the static so much the SQ is god-awful

Thanks, I'm buying this online now, bk1, yeah I have a 5th generation ipod and the itrips for the 4th and lower won't work with it.

Lex, the itrip is garbage to begin with, I sold mine a while ago, nothing but static.

Will up this thread when it's installed and leave feedback on the sound.
