Help locating an old HU...
Hey guys,
My cousin has been checking out HUs for a few weeks. He wants an Alpine, but he doesn't like the fact that the new ones have weaker amplifiers than previous years (no more V-Drive amplifier). At least for the 2006 models, Alpine got rid of the glide-touch (short-lived for a good reason), but they didn't bring back the V-Drive.
He wants a 9835 (the top 2004 model). They're on ebay, used for a couple hundred. I realize the answer to this is probably no, but is there anywhere to get a new 9835 still? I haven't found them anywhere online, but I thought maybe somebody on here would have a connection of some sort.
Thanks for any info.
-Brian

When do the new Eclipse HUs come out? I'm still not crazy about the appearance of the current models.

I do agree with you about the aux input. I realize that's just Alpine's little way of stealing more of your money; requiring an $80 adapter to use both AUX and changer inputs is like Verizon disabling bluetooth on their phones so you can't share stuff with friends, and instead you have to go on Get It Now and buy it yourself. I hate companies like that...
Anyway, do you have any pics or info on the new Eclipse models? Or is it classified, top-secret information?

I see they changed their model numbering. I guess the 5000 and 7000 are the models I should be interested in? And this new Bluetooth integration of several other brands (Pioneer and Alpine) looks intriguing; I don't suppose that's available from Eclipse yet?

Yea they spread out a bit.
Those are the top models. Whichever applies to you more is the one to choose.
No bluetooth yet. Thats why I signed on with another company offering bluetooth integration with any car.

Also, how does this bluetooth thing you're talking about work?
And one more thing: Crutchfield lists the 5000 as having 8V pre-outs while the 7000 has only 5V pre-outs. Is it correct to assume this is a misprint, and they in fact both have 8V pre-outs?
Thanks Don.

Nope not a typo, the 7000 is only 5V.
