Audio/Video Problem

Today, my friend and I installed a microvision 7" TV, a DVD (I don't know what brand) and a Pioneer HU. We got the pieces to fit, (because we're waiting for the radio trim) we got the hooked all the connections in. The only problem is that when the car is in the on (not the Accessory mode) position. The sound and display become distorted. A sound comes out of the speakers that make a high pitch squealing sound as if coming from the engine. We didn't have any problems with installation except for when we were hooking up the HU, we couldn't find the antenna wire. That shouldn't have anything to do with that because it's in the AUX mode. We can't use the radio because we couldn't find the antenna. So now, I have a DVD player and a kick a$$ CD player. But the AUX, the TV and the radio are giving me problems. Any help is appreciated.

Re-ground everything solidly to the chassis somewhere.

Done. Thanks. What about the antenna? We got everything but the antenna. Where is it and what do I do?

Where did you put the black, red, and orange wires for the screen?

The TV had a power wire, which we spliced the power wires to, and video cables we connected to the HU. The radio still doesn't work even after I found the wire from my harness and connected it to the HU.

I checked all my wiring and nothing. There is a empty slot on the back of the HU for something, but I don't know. And there is a black plug still left over from my car that was connected to my old radio. What is it and where does it go. It doesn't fit into the HU.

WRONG. no they're not.

If you connect the remote wire to the power antenna, the antenna will go up/get a +12 when the radio is on, all the time.

Ya, so whats the other option? Wire the antenna to some acc source?

Garrick the plugs are most likely for the antenna's signal.

Wire the power antenna to the power antenna.

lol..the black thing is a MALE plug right?...and you took it out of the old HU? if so..then plug that into the new HU in the back where it should fit..i believe it is a cylindrical shape with a point in it..thats the antenna..also please make sure that you put the power antenna wire to the correct one on the wire harness and didnt confuse it for thr remote wire on the harness...i believe they are both blue wires but one has a white stripe or something on it..lemem know if this works.

That black plug is your factory antenna. It has 2 pins
You need an antenna adapter that will make it 1 pin that will then fit into your aftermarket HU.

make sure to lightly sand down the spot that you have i grounded to...it should be shiny metal..not dull; because dull means painted. Lemme know if that works.

If its the metal beam behind the dash theres no paint on it.

The microvision screen is notorious for getting distorted under "engine noise" try to isolate the screen's power from the HU power. Once you get an antenna adapter you may see a better result because the antenna acts as a floating ground.

Get the adapter and let us know. Alternator whine is tricky and frustrating but it can almost alwaye be resolved.

My other friend said that the electromagnetic waves from the alternator is interfering with the rca cables. He said that I should get some shielded Monster Cables or something like that.

Are you running an amp(s) or just HU->speakers?

edit: hahaha electromagnetic. That's not quite the term to describe the phenomena

Although it's for patients, the alternator creates an Electromagnetic Field (EMF) that does cause some interference.
