6th gen Bose sub is 8" or 6X9?

Yeah, this is an audio question, but it's specifically related to the 6th Gen rear deck and dealer audio options.

So, any way, I've heard stories that the Bose Premium Audio package comes with (2) 8" subwoofers. Well, I have the Bose Premium Audio package, got the 6 disc changer and the speed sensitive volume settings and all. But I found out that I only have 6x9 speakers on the rear deck, and not 8" speakers. Now I'm wondering if any of the Max's come with an 8" speaker set. I wanted to get a little more bass out of my system. And I'm trying to figure out why I only have 6x9's when some people say that there is an 8" sub with the Bose speakers. Confusion belongs to the others, or is it all mine?

2 8" for the bose on my car and all bose owners.... check to see if you have a bose emblem on the cd tape deck, if not you don't have it along with the 8" subs..

it could be a 05 thing also, not sure..

Freaky! You both have '04 and the 8" speakers. I think I got robbed in '05! Heh!!

My tape deck door says Bose. That what you mean?

Here, check it out:

And speakers say "6x9 Speaker set"

well when i do my install i'll be taking a goo look since i'm tapping the amp. The FSM simply states L Sub and R Sub for both base and bose.
If they are 6x9, they're damn good 6x9.

Maybe NAVI is different?

Well the parts listing (in Sticky) shows:
Bose (round) speaker #8 for $334.57
Base (oval) speaker #9 $13.77

Huge difference in price and the pics shows Round vs Oval.
It's a $300 difference in amps aswell.

Oh, I beleive you NismoMax80. And my 6x9 looks nothing more than a $14 speaker. But I find it very interesting! I'm wondering why I don't have an 8" subwoofer with my stereo. What option did I miss or add to not get one?

Now I wonder if there is an adapter from 6x9 to 8" because it seems kind of weird that they would weld together 2 different rear-decks because of an optional subwoofer. I would think they would make it easier on themselves than manufacturing 2 different car lines. But, maybe it's an SL vs. SE thing too?

i remember the salesman trying to get us to get the Bose package. i simply said i'll end up ripping it out anyhow, so no point spending the extra $$$. he got very quiet.

Well I don't have my car right now, or I would have confirmed either way by now. Funnier things have happened to members: 1 HID and 1 Halo.... SAT stickers and not pre-wired...

The whole change from 5.5 to 6th gen bose was from 1-10" sub to 2-8" subs.

There was some sort of rear deck rattle for some 6th gen's wasn't there? Do you think that they deleted the 8" option and replaced it with a 6x9 and didn't tell anyone?

The bose is a nice sounding system to listen to most music...It will not blow you away though...but it serves its purpose, Id HATE to hear what the stock sounds like. This sounds better then the Lexus non-premium audio..which is pretty good IMO.

Bose sucks for car systems. I cant wait till pioneer debuts their Avic Z1 imma be all over that deck like white on rice! Imma replace the back 8 inch subs with 2 kicker 8 inch comp vr's replace the front components with infinity kappas, and 6.5 kappas in the rear door.

To be honest, the high end of the music spectrum is crisp and clear with BOSE, that part is excellent...like I said it works for most music. It can't hit very low notes, nor can it play mildly low notes loudly...It just sounds like a very small subwoofer with many limitations...I used to have 2 12" JBL GTOs and a 1000W Directed amp in a sealed enclosure. Compared to other premium OEM packages, im sure this system can hold its own though.

not to ruin your parade, but you might want to check if those kicker vr's are free air compatible or not instead of simply throwing it into the rear deck.

That's cool man. Bose don't work for you. But why you got 8"s in the back and I only got 6x9?! What's up with that?! I'm feeling like everyone got invited to my birthday party, except me!

So you didn't call Nissan or the dealer yet? I'm assuming you didn't try that first. Just ask "what size speakers are supposed to be in the rear deck for the Bose system?"

and go from there.

Surface area and a Round speaker will always perform better than than an oval.

Well I have 8"

Apr 22 2004 Made in Mexico stamped on them. I bought my car May 20, 2004. So not many Bose 04s should have 6x9s.

I did realize my grand plan for my Sub won't work. Already secured my amp on top of my box and the rear deck is too low...

On to plan B.
