Sub problem

I have had my 2 infinity 10.1d 10 inch sub for about 1 year now, and just about 5 miun ago i noticed that one of them wasnt workin at all, they are 350 watts rms at 2 ohms and i am giving them about 300 at 2 ohms, anyone know whats goin on? i double checked all the connections in the box and everyting seems to be good, and only one is not workin at all, any suggestions on what might be goin on here? i am really hopin its not blown, i am not looking foward to buying a new sub

easy way to check is to switch connections of the subs. This will help determine right away if it's your sub or amp.

check the voice coils wiht a multimeter make sure they read the correct ohm load.. Also push in on the sub. If it is "seized" (Real stuff to push in ) the sub is completely dead. Im thinking that maybe one of the wires might have fallen out some where and it changed the ohm load of the woofer.

checking the impedance is a great idea. Although "feeling" it may be misleading being its in a sealed enclosure. It should be somewhat or mostly tight to move anyway, although Im not a fan of pushing on cones to begin with.

Kevins Idea would be the simplest, just swap the wires from each sub and see if it works then...

Keeping it simple doesnt make it old age, just easy. Gets right to the point without extra work.

Experience > Age

Getting right to the point helps if the facts are CORRECT first... otherwise it's not getting to the point.

Why you bashing Pearl96Max? Why is saying that your idea is the simplest a sign of old age? Either I am missing something here or you are crazy kcidmil

Awww so sorry Ben, that I gave Kevin the credit and not you. Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it bish.

To be honest I did see your post, but didnt pay attention as it usually has a plug for memphis so I wanted to save my valuable few seconds of my time and I skipped right over it. Stick that in your shoe and kick it around for a bit KID.

Fine, just to make you happy OLD man.

Trevmister1610, you wouldn't have had this problem with the correct MEMPHIS M-CLASS AMP...

there's my Memphis Plug for the day, now go to the 3rd gen forum and check out what just arrived

Actually my MC500D is very reliable. It pushed my system with no problems, even during 110 degree days, sitting under my subwoofer box with the system cranked. If that's not taking a beating, I don't know what it is.

damn this thread got off topic.

anyhow i wouldn't suggest pushing the cone as a first test either. get out the DMM and test it at the terminals on the box.
