5th gen known rattling points?

This is my first thread on this site (I finally got approved to post somehow)!
You guys have been very helpful and I appreciate it very much.

Anywho, I just got my stereo installed in my 2002 Maxima SE. It sounds pretty good except for the plethora of rattling problems.

Has anyone compiled a list of known bad rattles in the car so that I can target them first with sound deadening materials? I'm assuming the rear deck is pretty bad.

I don't have the Bose system so none of those places would be rattling.

Thanks in advance,
-Drew

Cliffs: What parts/places in the 5th gen Maximas are known to rattle/make noise when subs are installed?

honestly...everything from my rear view mirror on back to the license plate rattles. start with the rear deck and work your way to the rear bumper which rattles alot too.

definitely start with the rear deck. Also check the door panels.

I know this sounds like a terribly taxing process, but how about taking 2 seconds and listening where the rattles occur in your own car? ZOMG, do work for yourself? Unheard of!!!!!

Yeah fade your Hu to just your subs and thats deff the easiest and best way to approach it.

I'm sorry to have offended you. Of course I will be doing this process myself but I just wanted to know what typical problems are - especially since rattles are something that appear over time after prolonged stereo use.

Again, sorry to offend.

I'm starting to notice rattles in the dome light/sunglass holder area and a bunch in the front passenger door, though I haven't pinpointed yet.

You 5th Gen boys sound like you have more rattle points than us 4th Gens. Typically we isolate the problem to the rear deck lid, trunk, and rear quater panels. Seatbelts I hadn't heard of till I saw the above link. I have 2 layers of hushmat around the rear deck lid and then topped it off with a product callled Quietcote, made by a local company. Second Skin sells various products that can solve your rattling problems. Sludge is a great product that should eliminate all the rattling on the rear deck lid and for the trunks I would recommend either Sludge or a strong vinyl matting that reduces body flex from the subs firing to the rear. In all cases try the Second Skin products.

yes, I have the dome light rattling as well, never noticed it until this past week, I removed the rear deck and trunk liner in preperation for the sound deadening project that awaits me this weekend. I guess I never heard the dome light rattling for the @$#%ing rear deck.....system sounds awesome without the rattling...lol can't wait to get the sound deadener in.

well, LOL, I haven't even taken care of the rear deck rattle yet... thats this weekend... I'll get to the dome light after the rear deck, maybe this weekend, depends on weather/ time. But the dang rear deck rattled so much, I didn't even hear the dome light till I took rear deck off..

Sweet Jesus! I have this too! It's so horrifically annoying! I personally think it's just the wind visor.
