JVC DVD units?

I saw a JVC dvd player at best buy the other day. I was there because I had best buy car so I had to burn on something. Well, anyway I saw this JVC unit that plays regular dvd's as well as dvd music. It was an open box item (it was their display unit) and they were selling it for $160. I'm kinda disappointed with the one set of 2 volt preouts being that I'm 3 amps right now.

Have any of you had experience with this thing KD-DV5100?

no no no please dont... spend the extra dough and get the pioneer that plays DVDs, trust me on this one. mine was brand new, and here are all the bugs it has, and im sure im missing 1 or 2:

-its finikey. sometimes it stops playing by itself, and won't start again until you take the cd out.
-when you switch to radio, the cd continues to play (wierd)
-you can't fast forward or rewind Mp3s
-if you want to select song # 455 of 950, you have to put it on random, until you get close, then turn off random, and selecting it, but you cant turn off random without going up or down 10 songs because if you do, its starts the folder over again at song #1. difficult to understand, i know.. in other words you cannot just type in a number
- ^ this is a PIA without a screen
-crank the highs on the EQ and there still isn't enough highs (the EQ sucks basically)

do not get this unit. im going to be selling mine soon.. oh and by the way, i have the Arsenal 6160 series, which is a step up from the one you're looking at..

I have this headunit paired up with the microvision setup. I love it and have not had any of the problems listed above except that you have to scroll through songs. Other than that everything is great.

so can the pioneer fast foward and rewind? also, can you mix wav and mp3 files on one disk? my ears can tell the difference between say a 192k mp3 file and wav/lossless wma file. So I recorded all the cd's I actually purchased in wav format.

good question (mp3). it probably can, pioneer rules. find someone who has one tho, or call them directly

you should be able to (wav), check the specs of the unit first.. im really not sure the point tho.. wav format is the format cds are sold in by artist, ie, 15-19 songs per disc.. roughly 45 mb each song.. mp3 is only 4-6 meg per song.
