From what I have read and seen, Kicker makes a very good quality speaker. However, the subs are Kicker's claim to fame. For several years, Kickers were the sub of choice before JL Audio and Rockford Fosgate.

Hey KC these speakers are from the same setup but with FOSGATE amps which I can't find now...it's funny cause I had four of these also...I thought I would be way to much for the Max so I decided only to use two instead but you just brought back some fund memories...man O man...One time Taco Bell had to come out and say ...."Sir can you please turn it down...it feel like our windows are about to break"...but overall I think two of these powered by the appropriate amp should still do the job or do u think I should go with three?

You want to get the off the radio as soon as possible. The subs are receiving all of the frequencies. Higher frequencies aren't made for the subs. That's not good for subs, make sure the amp you do get has a good crossover point on it. Remember the sooner the better.

Thanks Darthswan for your response....what amp would you recommend without going "all out" financially wise...FYI the subs are not yet hooked up so you would recommend not running them from the Bose HU even with the appropriate amp....I was trying to avoid gutting the whole BOSE system at once due to other modifications being made to the vehicle but I did want a temporary yet suitable solution....
So if I was to ditch the HU and get a after market such as an Eclipse...how would that set up run with the Bose speakers since I don't really wanna gut as of now...

Tx in advance for your help...
just trying to get a clearer picture of things

Amp recommendation:

That's a touchy one. First it depends on how many subs do you plan on having? Then, are the subs svc or dvc? You want at least 200 watts going into each sub. I use that "at least" extremely loosely. You can run the bose radio with a seperate amp, but not directly off the radio. You'll decrease the life of the sub.

Radio recommendation:

Like I said in the previous paragraph, you can run an amp off of the radio. Since I didn't have a bose I don't know, but, I believe the radio has pre-outs on the back of it. You can also change out your radio, but that is not a cheap process.

Just my 2

haha.. check out this pic of my max now.. r ya really gonna ask ME how many i think you should use?? lol.. anyway.. those are (4) 10" pheonix gold x-max's with carbon fiber cones. i bought (8) originally to replace the 4 12's in the truck but wound up doin up the max instead. the original plan for the typhoon was the 8 10's, and 2 fosgate 1100 a2's for the box. instead of doin the truck i put 4 in the max with one 1100 a2 , 2 sets of diamond audio 6.5" componets with a fosgate 600a4.. sounds sweet.. i went with the 10's instead of 12's cause i wanted to lean a lil more towards acurate bass rather than just boom.. it booms enough..lol.. sounds awsome.. i love it

FYI the Bose system doesn't have preouts that work with aftermarket amplifiers. He will need a high to low level adapter or Vendetta line output converter to be able to add an amp to the Bose setup. www.peripheral-aamp.com has the vendetta units on their website. They are available from any Stinger car audio accessory dealer or online at www.autotoys.com. Crutchfield probably has them as well.

My bad, maybe some of them. My friend's Bose has preouts on the back of the radio. Make sure you check your radio.

I believe it was a 98, I'll have to ask him and see. It's been a couple of years since I have seen him and the car. I'll let you know.
