I know a lot of you guys would recommend a totally new system. But for those who want to keep it stock but want a little more punch, I highly recommend getting the 6 pk cd system from a 350Z or Pathfinder. I just put a 2002 Pathfinder Bose in my 97 SE and it sounds a lot better. Its plug and play and you have control of fade lt to rt, fr to bk, treble and bass. Install only took me about an hour.

I would have kept my system stock if it produced good sound. This was not the case though. I have not heard one that I would keep in my car yet. Glad it turned out well for you.
