Is Your Tape Adapter Clicking?
I bought a monster tape adapter for my fifth gen maxima and have had no problems with it other than a light clicking noise that would fade out at higher volume levels, but an annoyance nevertheless. However, I got bored, and was planning on replacing it with another one that I hoped wouldn't click, so I decided to take an exacto knife to it.
I listened closely to the tape deck, and decided that the sound seemed to be louder on the left side, so I cut the teeth out of that side of the tape:

Silence is golden. All I could hear now was the tape deck motor itself and the hiss of the speakers turned up with no input.
Disclaimer: I know for sure this will work for a 5th generation Nissan Maxima. I know for sure this will not work in many other vehicles - for example the 2005 Acura TL rejects this tape on insertion. Use this technique at your own risk.
