Eclipse at Circuit City??
To my surprise I got an email stating that Circuit City will be carrying Eclipse stereos. Is this new or old news? Wow Best Buy gets Alpine and now this! Hope they offer good prices with all this competition from other store.
But the best guy is still Don in NJ for Eclipse products!

1 year warranty, 1 year theft coverage.
Thank all the people that took advantage of their warranties. When it came close to three years, knowing their unit wasnt in production anymore and it would be replaced with current, they mysteriously stopped working..
Also thank the whole going to CC decision, if they kept the warranty 3yrs, then CC couldnt sell their ESPs.

Man that is crappy, I would have kept it outta CC to allow them to keep the 3 yr warranty. I guess they have to do what they have to do from a business standpoint in order to reach a broader market. Oh well...

I guess Eclipse is going mainstream like all the other manufacturers. Too bad they shortened the warranty to 1 years now. That could've been a good selling point on top of the better sound quality.

I think there is no way to really say Eclipse is not at least trying to go somewhat "mainstream". entering a huge elctronic store chain, making the units more bling bling (IMO) to sell in CC, lowering some of the features to cut costs I presume, and axing the theft coverage and making detachable faces lead me to believe they are aiming for more profits which= going mainstream. even with all of this, the units are far superior to anything else offered at CC but Pioneer is closing in.
Like Alpine and the 9815, Kevin's old 8053 is what I think of when I think Eclipse SQ and looks and quality.

Mainstream product and mainstream marketing are two totally different things sir.
Axing what theft coverage? Have you been sadly misinformed of something?

nah the Mexican sun and hearing all the bandpass setups there might attribute to this lack of info on my part. for some reason I thought it was 3 year theft coverage before but I just realized it has always been 1. either way I feel Eclipse will not have the "aura" it had by being sold exclusively from people like you. however, the move is still good for Eclipse and who knows, by the increased revenue maybe even higher end products in the years to come.

Cant really say they are lowering/cutting any features. They have more than they've ever had in their 8series headunits.
Their new LMT subs look pretty sweet.
They took a dive into classD full range amplification.
But yeah I know what you mean Rich. They are not quite in the stricktly audiophile tier game and are playing it safe. The CC/Crutchfield move may affect overtime the success they've had over years of protecting their line. Before you know it there may be on every E-website around.

Yea I was mainly focusing on the h/u aspects because I regard them so highly above other brands of radios. good point on the E-websites...wonder if Eclipse has a revised plan to "prevent" illegal online sales because thus far them seem to have done really well about that.

Although there is no more 3 year warranty, that does not mean that they feel their product is no longer worthy of one. They are still creating the same high quality product. I still have very high expectations, including one that ensures their products will still outlast their warranties and any stooooopid ESP CC sells.

I would however wait on purchasing a TV. Within a year or two, a new technology called SED is coming out, which will be xMillion times better than LCD and anything on the market now. We're taking millions more colors, and refresh rates and contrast ratios that blow the mind.
