A good amp to run my kicker L5

I decided to get the Kicker L5 and it requires 450W of RMS to run...... i checked around and the amps costs a lot. Anyone know of a good amp which might only cost around $200? thanks a lot.

My Kenwood pushed my L5 pretty well....i forgot the model number...ill tell you toinight im not at home. Decent amp for 200, never cut out on me no matter how loud i turned it up...If you want something a little more high end, search for something used...

How much are you looking to spend? Don't spend all your bank on the speaker then forget about the amp.

Dual 2 Ohms, i can do up to $300.

I spent 200 bucks on this sub plus enclosure which I thought was pretty cheap. The L7s are nice, but i dont need that much bump.

I just found an amp which puts 400 watts (Kicker KX400.1) for 275 bucks. will underpowering the sub by 50 watts hurt the amp?

no the amp will not be hurt however IIRC you will only get 200 watts from that amp when run at 4 ohms and it is not 1 ohm stable.

well that amp can put out 400x1 at 2ohms and the L5 is 450 at 2ohms which is fine from what the circuit city dude said....

i tried looking at the arc audio amps which has been popular in the org, but ive only seen a 400.2 one which runs 200x2 @ 2ohms.... this can be bridged to 400x1 right? I guess don comes in here.

The "circuit city guy" is an idiot. As you cannot achieve a 2Ohm load with a Dual 2Ohm speaker. Its either 4Ohm or 1Ohm. In which case Id suggest either a Diamond D3400.1 or D3600.1. Both will easily handle the task.

The KAR amps do not do 1Ohm loads, but will handle a 4Ohm bridged. The KAR400.2 would work in that case.

Circuit city guy is a nut. Don any amps in the ~$200 range 2 channel to power a set of comps? Got a friend that is in need, he needs a 4 channel in reality but i think a 2 channel might suffice. Anything in 2 and 4 channels in that range?

Don't spend all your bank on the speaker then forget about the amp.

ive got the Kenwood eXelon X811D, and it works awesome for my setup. I got it for around 220 bucks on eBay, and have had no problems with it.

specs are about 500 watts RMS at 4 OHM, about 900 at 2 OHM, and a lil over 1000 at 1 OHM.

FYI, the 450WRMS is rated w/ a subsonic filter of 20hz.

e.g. my L7 12" is rated @ 750 WRMS but take out the subsonic filter and it's 300 WRMS according stillwater design.

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

you can throw about 800-900 watts at that sub and it will love it. onlinecarstereo.com usually has pretty good deals on a lot of major brands.

I am running my L5's off of a Legacy amp it's rated at 2400 watts but it may be much less than that but seriously I am happy with it and it isn't clipping and my subs are loud enough so I am happy.

That is a good amp. I had one for a while. The only thing is that I would try to go the authorized route.

Maybe because I got the amp for 50 bucks. And I got my subs, 2 s12L5's, for more than a great price 180 bucks. But when I get my money right I am buying that planet audio amp and getting a HO alternator (Sotck probe alternators are garbage compared to that of the maxima)

Got anything to back up those words?

By throwing in something that you have for sale doesnt make and better than the posts that Ive already locked. Ive been Very lenient with you so far, but its wearing very thin.
