Just got Rainbow's (SLC 265.03) What to use for rear?

Hi guys. So I just got on the amazing GD. Now I need to get speakers for rear fill. I know a lot of you suggested not to use rear speakers at all but the hting is I really like to hear some sound coming out of the rear speakers because I like to feel as if Im surrounded by the music. And also I care about the people in the back

What do you guys think of the Rainbow SL line? I can't find any1 running them so if you are please comment on them. I would be running them of the HU and have a seperate amplifier to power the fronts. So what do you guys think? Any suggestions or comments?

Oh and of course another option is to leave the stock bose speakers in the back powered from the HU. But if I will get a big difference if I go to the SL line than the stock bose in the back I think I just might do it. So let's here it. Thanks.

lol let's make this thread simple: get the dream line's or the SL's. I have heard the dreams and they sound damn good. if you have the extra dough get the SL's.

lol you guys are funny. Comon that was like the hardest decision I had to make lol.

Slickrick did you hear them powered with the HU or external amp? Do you think they will sound as good powered fomr the HU?

And will I notice a big difference between the Dream Line's and the SL's?

either way with the soundlines up front it won't matter much and for the price diffference get the SL's.

cliffs notes: SL's FTW!

Why would you have problems with imaging with a different brand? Anyways you're already f'ing up your imaging with speakers in the back.

Is this going to turn into another 300pg thread about you not being sure about if you want this or that or the other thing with green beans and mashed potatoes on the side? And now your gonna have to eat ramen noodles for the rest of the year in order to be able to live?

well of course Im not sure thats why I asked... Otherwise I wouldnt have asked right?

Anyway when I Was getting my sub installed Don said I would have problems with imaging if I where to just leave the BOSE speakers in the back and have the Rainbows up front. Thats why I decided to stay with the same brand f speakers...

Hey zgrm100, just wondering how you like your setup? Read your 9 page thread (very entertaining to say the least). Been interested in a new audio setup, however, like you, I am looking for a "budget-minded" system. From the read, you got a Rainbow sub/enclosure with a Diamond amp for about $600?

I apologize in advance if I am hijacking this thread. I am a total noob to car audio and cannot create new posts, due to my apparent lack of contribution. Just wish I knew enough to post valid responses.

Thanks!

No problem typerel. I love my setup. I cant wait to finally install the speakers.

The sub sounds really good. I prefer it to still be a little tighter but that could be because of the BOSE headunit that I am using. OTher than that, it is small so I can still get to the spare and it sounds beautifully.

You don't happen to have the dimensions of the box do you? I don't believe the Rainbow website had dimension specifics listed. As the Maxima does have a large trunk, I too, value my spare and trunk space (audit bags, golf clubs, etc.) You got any pics of your trunk? That'd be swell!

It's the size of a standard 1cuft 12" box.

a 1 cu ft box can be acheived in several different variations. I would like to know the dimensions of the specific box mentioned. By the looks of it, it is not a 1x1x1 box.

I'll try to take some pics of my trunk tomorrow. It has the side that does not have the woofer, sort of cut-off or slanted if you know what I mean. It hardly takes up any trunk space at all. Thats why I like it as well.

Smart man. Its always best to match speakers- typically in a speaker line, drivers will be 'matched' in terms of sensitivity/freq response and cone material plays a big role. This will allow you to have uniform tonality/sound of the instruments from every corner.
