$500-600 4-chan amp budget: Arc, Diamond, PPI, Audison, DLS, Jensen?

Ok the last one was a joke, but just trying to get your attention. :0

Time to upgrade again, my Focal Polyglass comps never forgave me for feeding them with a cheap Rockford Fosgate Power amp :P

All choices in the title (minus jensen) seem like a good choice. I want nice, big, open, crystal-clear, dynamic sound with a wide soundstage.

Any advice or experience with those brands, or even a recommendation for another one? Thanks for any help.

I'm not. I'm either getting rid of all my audio besides the HU or I'm putting it all in the Alti.

PPI is mainstream crap nowadays. If you get their old stuff then hell ya. NEW PPI is maybe 1/10th of what Arc is in terms of quality.

i was very impressed on PPI's part in pushing the speakers and the quality it distributes. it is not the best, i know that, but it is worth the 500 BUCKS. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY I WOULD TAKE THIS PPI AMP OVER MY OLDER PHEONIX GOLD.

freakin PG!! it's supposed to puch 600 watts to anywhere from 1-8 ohms , it was pushing my 2 ohm sub PERFECTLY untill i connected a 4 ohm sub to test it out,, guess what... it started smoking

Ya would you rather spend that $500 on a PPI or an Arc? Personally I would save up more and spend even $800 on an Arc. PG is crap nowadays their as good as profile.

No personal experience, but a few posts I read on a European forum from users said they pack a lotta power in a small footprint.

I'm not saying it's the best, but what did you not like about the Rockford Power amp? Did it sound bad and what led you to believe it was due to the amp?

"open, and wide soundstage" to me would likely be more of products of the install/speakers/ and speaker location moreso than what amp you're using. Even the "crystal clear sound" you're looking for...are you sure thats because of the amp and not other things?

If you want more power, or just wanna change, thats cool....but a lot of systems can not sound up to the owners expectations for a lot of reasons besides what amp you're using.

Want a powerful versatile four channel amp that is "in the league" of the other amps you're looking at and cheaper....here ya go. Jump on this while you have the chance. Don't find these babies around much...

The Rockford just sounds barely above average to me. What made me want to upgrade is hearing my brother's recent setup with a JL Audio amp powering 4 Focal Accesses. His speakers are a step below mine but overall produced a fuller, richer sound.

I know speaker placement has a lot to do with soundstage but I'm happy where they are right (meaning I'm too lazy to move them again :P).

Any reputable online dealers for Arc Audio or did Pearly brainwash everyone into buying retail? (i kid, i kid)

how much power was that RF amp giving your comps? power isn't everything, the install is also plays a vital role on how it'll sound. but arc gets my vote.

Do a bit of searching and check the internals...thats all Im gonna say.

D6s..solid performers and decent price.

D3s..great price point and theyll provide rated power all day.

D9s...Jury isnt back on that one yet.

Its primarily the markets assumption thats its their highest level with a price tag to match, so "it Must be good". By far different from original copy of the Esoteric E7s.

I have a PPI DCX1000.4 for sale hardly used with custom plexi top and graphics for $250 if you happen to be interested. I would not consider PPI mainstream crap as someone posted above. I know nobody that runs PPI personally, I don't consider it mainstream
