$200 Budget

I want a new HU and speakers to replace my bose system. The budget is $200 My bose system really sucks when I have it loud, it sounds very bad. At normal listening it sounds fine, but when louder it's horrible. Like full volume. Any ideas for replacements for $200?

Is it possible to just get new speakers but keep the bose HU? I know $200 would get me some decent speakers but not a good HU too. Any ideas?

Word, it's a decent amount of work to put regular aftermarket speakers on the Bose system.

Just get a new HU.

Well it all depend on if your HU is still working or not?If it's just your speaker, you can test it with the balance and fader and see which speaker blown or if it's your HU,but it's a hassel to remove your Bose and believe me I have done a few,but for $200 you're not getting anything close to the Bose's sound on the 4th gen,if you said it sound fine when you had the volume down, then prolly it's your speaker that's blown,I would find a replacement from an org member that's parting out there car.Just my $.02,hope this will help.

No nothing is blown, it's just that I want better sound from my bose speakers. It sounds good up until close to full volume, it's distorted and etc. I just want to replace the speakers, is this possible?

How do I do that? Aren't the bose speakers already amped?

Just replace your HU, it will give your Bose system a cleaner sound and your speakers will sound clearer. Seriously, this is your best bet right now.

Get a new HU. you can destroy good speakers with a ****ty head unit and you can make ****ty speakers sound great with a great HU. start with the headunit. then replace your speakers. dont go cheap. if you need to take the time...do it right.
there are volumes of car audio how to on the web. just google my friend.

if you only have $200 dont bother. you need a line converter, nissan adapter, and antenna adapter. then you are left with around $160 at the most. a $200 deck is still a POS. i have replaced the bose HU with a $200 sony HU only to remove the sony 1 week later. there was no bass, no reception, and interfearing noise. i now have a $350 alpine with amp and sub. i still want to get rid of the stock speakers. they are weak sauce.
