Double Din Kit for my '02?

I searched around all over the place for a double din kit to install a full screen monitor instead of doin an indash dvd player single din and I can't find it. Do they make one for the 02's or is it a custom thing?

Yes and yes.

But don't buy an Alpine. Contact Don (Pearl96Max) and he can set you up with an Eclipse AVX.

i just did some research on the Eclipse your talking about and I really like it. The features I really could see utilizing but the alpine is just a better price for me. I'm only lookin at spending around 1000 and eclipse is definitly alot more than that...closer to 2 thousand and especially if I look at the navigation aspect of it. If Pearl can get me a good deal i will definitly be interested, but unfortunately my pockets are only so deep

Don's price on the AVN-5500 is $1550 for org members. If you are looking for a unit without navi, the AVX is a great unit and is significantly cheaper.

hmmmm.... so why would I pay 115 for the gxe kit when i can like 10 for the metra one? They both do the same thing. Or would it not look right becuase of shape and how it would fit with gap situations?

It's not the gap, it's the finish of the plastic. The metra is black ABS plastic, does not match the color of the rest of the trim.

Does anyone know if the metra kit can be customized and still be sturdy enough hold a 2DIN screen?

It will take work, more than it's worth.

Not sure if Fieldgoodz has already ordered, but crutchfield (i know...) has the AVN5500 for $1099 w/ shipping.

Well do you know of a better way to install a 2DIN screen in that car? I'm willing to fiberglass if needed.

The bad thing is I already have the screen. Otherwise I would go for an Eclipse. I've owned 4 or 5 Eclipse decks and love them. I got too good of a deal on this screen to pass up.

1-The Scosche kit matches better than Metra being that the Metra is black, but its not near close to the factory color by any means.
2-The Scosche kit will take just as long, if not longer, to install than any other, simply because of the redrilling necessary. It is a HUGE PIECE OF ****, and you will probably end up smashing it into a million pieces in frustration as many other forum members here have.
3-Stop being cheap and get the GXE kit.

/thread. Seriously this time. No need for further misinformation.
