i've e-mailed him for more specific info about the amp and subs. is jensen any good? im thinkin that i might buy this and use the amp for the interior speakers and buy a more powerful amp for the subs. is that doable, worth it? thanks

To be honest jensen is a good qaulity speaker, but it definitely isnt the best. And ur definitely going to want more power than what the jensen amp is putting out. And there amps also are a little overatted as far as wattage is concerned. But for only 85 bucks for everything as long as its workin u should go for it. Also if the jensen amp is 4 channel u could always use that to run the interiors and get a bigger 2 channel to run the subs.

yeah that was my plan but i still havent gotten a response from the seller. so since the subs are 400w, how many watts in a 2channel amp would i need to make it sound good?

Well Im only running like 250x1 into my subs and they hit ridiculous hard. Its good enough to still hear the highs. If u start pourin in like 4 500 watts ur gunna have too much bass and unless ur interior speakers are unbelievable ur not gunna hear any treble. U should be good with running liek 300 watts mono if u lookin for some good crisp sound.

Seriously man, you could do a lot better than Jensen. Jensen isnt necessarily a "joke" but it is in the lower tiers as far as audio components go. $200 ISNT a lot of money to spend on quality subs and an amp, youd probably be better off saving up a little more, you will be happier in the end. Ask anyone, car audio is addicting. You will tell yourself you just want some "thump" but soon that "thump" wont seem so loud anymore and youll be craving bigger and better things.

You can get 2 Audiobahn AW1200s for about $90 each, build or purchase a ported or sealed box (depending on your size limitations) for about $40 and then get an MTX 500D or another quality, less expensive amp that does about 600 watts.

Youll pay twice as much but youll be about 10 times happier. Ive re-done my system 3 times and Im still not happy, Ill probably do it again, once I find buyers for all of my old stuff.

Just my opinion.

I have to agree with DCmax here. Save up for better equipment. You will be happier in the long run. A good starter point is $500 that will get you a good quality subwoofer or two and a decent amplifier to run them.
