Anyone have Alpine head unit ?

Hey guys, been kinda quiet for the last few months here on the .org....

My Max got broken into this weekend and they jacked my whole stereo out of it....

Anyone have pictures of a Alpine LCD installed in their car, I am trying to see how flush it sits with the dash before I buy a new unit- it needs to be detachable and I do not like Pioneers.

what bout eclipse or kenwood. both make great double din units.

the latest alpine, the 3000 or soemthing liek that the single din.is nice, but imo it sits much to high, and would be very noticeable, much more so than a double din. ive seen many in the cars we install in at my last couple of places ive worked.

and actually last years, soon to be 2 years old single din pioneer was rated one of the best. the new ones nice ,but its much harder to bypass to allow movie watchin while in motion, if ur into that.

Looks like a lot of people have problems with the bottom left corner of the GXE kit holding in flush.

Thanks for the pics guys I appreciate em...

My whole interior looks like a bomb went off inside and I am waiting for the adjuster to come out tomorrow so they can repleace/cut me a check for the losses. I got State Farm with no deductible on theft- learned my lesson years ago on my Sentra that got broken into.

Reason I wanna stay with Alpine is, they forgot some of the stuff that I had that was Alpine and I really do LIKE Alpine products, kinda sorta Alpine fanatic here.

I can't have a double din unit as they do not detach faces- big no no in the condoplex I live in. I don't wanna have to deal with another theft so detach face unit is a must. I am very interested in a LCD sceen slide out unit so I can take advantage of alot of neat things I can do with it- video games on long trips by my passengers or my fiancee can watch a movie, hook up GPS to it etc.

I might consider Pioneer, but it needs a detachable face. I might just get a normal single din CD player but the LCD 7" or 6.5" is deff nice.

Eclipse makes great stuff, but their ESN security is BS as most of the thefts I seen are done by low life scum which don't really know anything bout stereos. So what they need a ESN CD to activate the unit back..... I still have a hole in the dashboard where the radio used to sit. Detach face is the ONLY way to go for me.

The only flip out screen with detachable face that I know about is the Eclipse AVN7000, which has a pretty high price tag.

As far as Alpine, their current units are the IVA D310 and D100, neither of which seem to have detachable face.

Alarm.....

Well my car is parked at a deserted dealership in a industrial area where there are eighter big warehouses or LOTS of dealerships with no security of any kind.

My house = 40 miles north from the dealership, Alarm ? Useless.

Stock alarm did its job the best it could, they tried to cut the power wires and ground wires but I have the car all wired up on my own and they could never stop the alarm from going off. Aftermarket alarm wouldn't really do me any good in this situation, and I hate ALL non-OEM alarms with passion.

I was looking at IVA-D901 which has a detach face, looked into this a year ago when they where in production still.

Guessing from my own estimates I have bout 3.5K smackers in loss, give or take 500 bux. Provided the dashboard and dash harness doesn't have to be repleaced which will add another 1K ontop of it all. Dash has some small nicks in it, and the shifter trim along with the radio bracket reinforcements in the dash are all ripped apart. The wire harness plugs are destroyed.

I have had 2 Pioneer radios, still have 1 to date in my Legend - bout 2 years old, and the CD player jams up every few days and wont eject CDs- NOT CD-Rs with labels eighter. I had a 14 year old Alpine CD player (pull OUT !!!) in my 91 Max that never skipped a beat- see why I love Alpine now ?

The alpine is real nice. Just installed a 9853 last night and only played with it a lil bit. VERY solid unit.

Ya I got the 9853 in my max now...had the 9811 in my jeep before my max, I love Alpines as well, can never go wrong with them. Some say eclipse has better SQ but ehh idk...The only thing that sucks about the 9853 is the 2V pre-out..should be 4v, but o well.

I am VERY content with my Alpine 9833. However, if I had to get a new one today, I would get the Eclipse CD7000. Only reason I am NOT upgrading is because I have a ton of Alpine accessories going into my HU, and it would be a nightmare to have to run all new wires for the Eclipse. Don can give you a simply unreal price on this HU...
