Fully fiberglassing teh trunk...IT BEGINS

Welp, with the interior overhual almost done (still waiting on some parts), it's time to hit up the trunk. I will be fully fiberglassing the trunk and finishing everything off with a wrap in black suede, accent w/ CCFLs. It's not going to be anything spectacular, just a sweep on both sides, subs in the middle with a lip, and recessed amps.

The pics are kinda raw, what you see is the prep foild wrap for the FG left side. You also see the sub box, and the floor. There are actually three layer to the floor: (1) 3/4" pine to cover the wheel well (2) First layer on the floor w/ spacers (3) Floor to mount sub box and recess amp cutouts. I'd also LIKE to put another cheapo amp and 4 coaxes back there for show...someday.

Enjoy, I'll post a log once I start making some real headway, we'll see how I do with time/energy this week.

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. I will try and get some more pics up tonight.

I'm a closet masochist whom forgoes things such as sleeping or eating to devote time to my projects.

There will be NO sanding involved. I have a nifty little trick I learned from a buddy at my old job on how to bypass that step.

In for tips. Looks good Dan. When do you want your springs/struts put in?

Probably in July/August. Reason being, I am having the rear quarter panel fixed in June/July, then the money from the proceeding month will be had for teh drop. If I dropped it now, the metal would scrap against the rear wheel. I know how to do brakes now, so if you want to do a little exchange of services...

Plenty of tips to come, I'm sure I'll hit a snag here or there, but in all honesty, I think this project should be banged out pretty quickly.

I don't think I can wait any longer to get my brakes done. Don't worry though, I got you covered. I need to get my car into the body shop too :/

I agree, trunk should be relatively straightforward. Good luck with it

dj i can help you with your brakes if need be, also metal what is this so called technique you talk about with little sanding. It may actually warrant me doing a fiberglass setup. right angle grinder?

I was thinking he was going to use one of those grinders with the flappy sanding wheel on it.

Creative I'll let ya know. Waiting on the packages to come in, currently. I'm probably going to end up replacing all 4 lines, calipers, rotors, pads. Might as well do a full bleed/flush while I'm at it.

More pics up tonight. I have decided that the mat I am using is WAY too effing thick for this application. I did not make nearly as much progress as I would have liked due to this fact. Just took up too much damn resin.

Been doing my GF Mustang. We stopped counting at 20 gallons of resin. Each of her enclusures weighs in at about 35lbs for a 1.25ft2 enclosure, TeeHee

God only knows how much I used on my car alone.

Keep us posted
