hey AVN guys, my boss and i have 5 Eclipse units that won't connect to GPS, we have other units that will connect (not eclipse, the AVN is the only eclipse product we sell). are there any special procedures to lock on to the GPS for the first time when you load it up?

 

Should work automatically,although sometimes it will take a lil while. But why do you have 30Ds? Dealership?

 

i work in a car audio shop, the 30d is the only one he has/sells. why, is it odd?

we left it on for over an hour, but it never found signal, it just sat there. this happened with multiple units.. everything is hooked up correctly.. its not in a car, its in the display, but the antenna was outside

is it possible for the sattelites to go down? i really don't know much about navi. the thing thats wierd is we had the Alpine Blackbird up and working fine the day before..

 

Its only odd due to the 20/30Ds are supposed to be Expeditor only. Theyre meant for OEM replacement primarily at dealerships. Theyre not for general consumers and lack some of the features. Thats why theres the 5435,5500,6600,etc..

Its possible, but unlikely. It may be the location of the antenna. Although it has happened a few times where the connection took several hours and maybe a day.

 

interesting about the 30d, ill have to ask him..

yeah we moved the antenna around a few times, still nothing. i guess we'll just leave it on longer on monday
