I Want to Upgrade my Stock System....

but I don't know much about audio stuff...
I know for the headunit it'll be either the Aviz-Z1 or the AVN6600 (whenever Eclipse decides to release it). Right now I'm leaning towards the Eclipse.

As far as speakers, I guess you call them components for the front set and tweeters? Does that refer to the rear speakers as well? What sizes are better than others? What are some good ones? I've heard a lot about Rainbow(Don) lol.

How about for subs? I'm thinking about 2 10" subs in a ported box, probably Arc Audio.
Amps I would probably go with Arc Audio as well. Which Line of their subs should I look at (Foose, XXK, KAR, SE)?

What else would I need to get?

As far as my budget goes...if the quality I get out of this setup is worth it, then im okay spending my money on it. I will probably be doing this in steps anyway. (Sound deadening, HU, components, amps and subs).

I really don't know what kind of price ranges there are for this kind of stuff...
def willing to spend the cash for the avn6600
as for components, i guess around $300-$500, whats the price difference b/w the germanium and profi vanadiums lines and others inclusive between those (powerline, profi's)
subs - don't know what they go for...$400-$700
amps - same as subs

Oh yea, what is soundstaging and how does this differ from a normal setup?
And is it necessary to get an MDF ring?

TIA!
Chris

Sounds like you have everything pretty much taken care of, your choices are high quality.

All it takes is one call to tha Don to pull the trigger.

The 6600 has been available. Released a bit back.

Comps..Germs are $450 and SLCs are $220 (GD). Powerline CMX is Slightly above the SLCs, but with a metal cone/tweet combo, not typically the perferred choice. The Powerline CS is out of most peoples league with a $1200+ SRP. Profis are above all except the CSs.

Subs..your budget is fine for any of them, but I would go sealed.

Amps..will be the most expensive item aside from the AVN unit, unless your stepping into the SEs. KAR series are solid performers with a budget in mind. XXKs are discontinued ( still available though) and are an excellent choice, but can be outperformed by the FDs.

Soundstaging is all in your tuning.

Yes youll need rings.

Is Hifonics a good brand? How are they compared to Arc Audio amps?

The type of amp you need depends on the application.

You can get a 2 channel for the fronts...
...or a 4 channel to all 4 speakers
...or bridge the 4 channel to 2 channels and run the fronts.
are you getting rear speakers?

Typically you use a mono amp for subs.

Ahh, I didn't know that. I thought I could get away with using one amp.
I would probably get rear speakers as well. Any recommendations for those?

You can use one amp. For example, get a 4 channel and run 2 channels to the fronts and bridge the other two to a sub.

Or get a 5 channel for fronts, rears, and a sub.

If you're getting Rainbow components, get Rainbow coaxials for the rear.

Depends on the impedance and wattage of the amp.
