Rocker Switch

I'm wiring a switch to control my drop resistor. I bought a rocker switch with an LED. Now I've wired up a million two-prong toggle switches, but never anything with an LED (three-prong). I tried a million different combinations to get this thing to work, and it wouldn't even do it's job as a switch. So, I threw in a toggle switch temporarily, and it works.

So how do I wire this thing? I've tapped the power (12v +) from the drop resistor and run wires to the cabin. So basically it's interrupting the + flow. The diagram on the little box the switch comes in labels it as this:

EARTH (ground)
LOAD
POWER (positive)

So what needs hooked up where? I have both the wires coming from the engine bay (the drop resistor's +) and a ground wire running to a screw on the frame hidden behind an interior panel.

the third prong is there for the led...so it can light up.

I know why there's a third prong. I'm asking how I place the wires to make everything work as it should. (i.e. where to put the wire coming from the drop resistor, the wire going to the DR, and the ground wire I made going to the chassis).

I could never figure those things out either.

I prefer two pole switches anyway

I am pretty sure that you need to wire the load prong up directly to the battery as well as the power prong. The ground probably grounds everything. I have a feeling that the led will always stay on, too.

Earth = ground, Load = what you want to turn on and off, power = 12v constant.

+ is from battery

load goes to your drop resistor (item your powering)

ground is any ground if you want the led to light up. (not necessary)
