I have a set of SL60s in my 2000. non bose, but it should be pretty much the same.
I bought mine a while ago, before coming on here, and based on past experience with BA.
My opinion of them :
The woofers lost some warmth over the stock speakers, and some of the deeper bass. They are much tighter than the stock woofers though.
The on/off axis setting don;t seem to make any real diffrence, but maybe I just am missing it.
There is slight harshness/brightness to the tweeters, and even with the tweeter crossver db adjument jumper in the lowest level setting they are too loud in my opinion. Also using the stock tweeter locations in the A pillars makes the drivers side much more noticable. I think a good part of that is because of the gauge cluster hump in the dash which seems to bounce the sound up toward the driver, in addition to the obvious part of them being closer. With the tweeters being too loud IMO, this only makes things worse.
They are unquestionably a step up from the stock speakers, but for the price, I would be interested in hearing some other brands. I know the Rainbow line is quite highly recommended by several people here, and if I had it to do over again I would look at otther options. As it is I will likely look to replace mine in the near future.

don't aim the tweets directly at you. boston tweets are pretty smooth IMO, not harsh at all.

MDF rings work wonders as for the tweets ^^ what he said, metal tweets = off axis = point them toward the windsheild. Soft tweets = on axis = point them at yourself.

My tweeters aren't aimed toward the driver/passenger, but straight across the dash towards the opposite side of the car.
I'm going to try relocating them to the kick panels and see if that helps.
I wasn't complaining about the woofers, just observing that they have a different sound compared to the stock speakers. The stock speakers while deeper and a certain amount more fullness to them, are very muddy and sloppy in comparison and sound worse the higher the volume. The Bostons are much tighter and have a far better kick to them.

Nope. Budget doesn't allow for it at this time It is in the plan though. I actually just finished up doing the trunk, rear wheel wells and rear deck. Just didn't have enough $$ to do more.
