replaced bose with all alpine, install w/ pics
So I finally saved up some money and replaced the bose system, I took some pics of my new toy, the alpine IVA-W200, got type-r components in front, and type s in back, powered by an alpine v-power!, along with an alpine type-r 12" sub
here are some pics, it took about 6 hours for the install https://img220.imageshack.us/img220/...7141177yq2.jpg Car in pieces https://img143.imageshack.us/img143/...7141192ce5.jpg Outside picture! https://img92.imageshack.us/img92/4329/p7141189tc8.jpg Bose wiress XXX https://img143.imageshack.us/img143/...7141171hw0.jpg The trunk, with the seat inside because it started raining for a second, but stopped minutes later https://img92.imageshack.us/img92/8009/p7141193ai3.jpg Back seat crossovers and speakers amp It sounds sick, very loud and clear! No complaints here! was little worried about the alpine not having much subwoofer/speaker equalizer control, but it sounds perfect so doesn't matter anymore! |

Type-r speakers https://img220.imageshack.us/img220/...7191201sp2.jpg IVA-W200 installed, had to cut down the dash kit a little bit because it wouldnt open https://img143.imageshack.us/img143/...7191197rw3.jpg https://img220.imageshack.us/img220/...7191200oe9.jpg |
Needs a few zip ties to clean things up, but looks good, congrats on the DIY.
|
Nice job man.
What did you mount the sub box down with? |
Looks good, glad it worked out.
 |

On that note, is there a universal Bose color code? or is everyone stuck to tapping/testing each wire?
|
Why bother? get a harness 10 bucks and no testing necessary.
|
Nice head unit! (I have one too)

so how is the clarity with the alpine speakers all around? did u change the tweeters too? im thinkin of goin alpine all around too.. im picky.. not for base.. but for clear crisp sound.. want to know if u get that with those?
|
Component set = tweeters replaced too.
Check out the Rainbow SLC group deal if you want clear speakers. |
nismos14, i should have been clearer, I was refering to tapping into the Bose amp.
burnurass, thanks for the site, I'll definately bookmark that. |
Looks like a nice job, but nothing like advertising your new equpiment by doing the install in a parking lot.

All the wires are hidden, nothing looks messy anymore either, just waiting for my video bypass to come in, then I will also take out the bose sub(so i will have a hole for more bass to come through) and maybe dynomat the trunk. |
damn you, i want that the w200. it will be mine someday. great unit.
congrats, looks like it would sound good. |
That's my headunit choice too.
|
looks sweet - I have my ivaw200 installed just a few weeks back..

Hey man, check out my homepage. I have almost the same setup. I'll have that same HU in about 3 weeks too. To answer your question, I love my all Alpine setup. All of my friends are constantally trying to get something better for the price, but they havent done it in 2 years now. |
That HU with an Alpine PXA-H701 processor would be a very nice setup.
|
Holy crap! Did you do this in your apartment parking lot? Ballsy move my friend, hopefully nobody w/ill intentions was scoping your equipment.
Good job on the install. |

I have a PXA-H701 with my IVA-W200. Works fine. (Toslink FTMFW - CDs sound AMAZING (to me)). Look in the manual for the IVA-W200, there is a section devoted to processor control. =)
The ONLY thing you can't do (AFAIK) is the automatic time correction using a microphone. No idea why though, as the mic input is on the unit, not the controller. *shrug* You can still do manual time correction, but you have to measure and do the math yourself. Not a big deal. |
That is what I thought....
