Speaker Wattage
Speaker Wattage
I was wondering how many watts should I go with my front and rear speakers. The deck says 50x4 watts, I am not going to hook up an amp. So does this mean that the most I will get is 50 watts per speaker? So if I get 160watt speakers, only 50 watts would be used unless I have an amp? Thanks.
your speakers will each see approx. 20 watts continuously. peak wattage means nothing. while i suggest getting an amplifier, you can run your new speakers directly off the head unit. when looking for aftermarket interior speakers, try to keep the sensitivity more in mind than wattage.

anything will sound better than the stock stuff. just go to different places and give various speakers a listen and just get the one that sounds good to YOU and matches your budget.
speaker sensitivity yeah...higher it is...the more efficient it'll be. For example, a speaker with a 90dB sensitivity rating will play louder than a speaker with a rating of 88dB when given the same amount power.

15 watts of bumpedy paper....However, if yo bump them too hard they rip. Sorta sad. I am waiting for a strong gust of wind to hit my stock speakers in my front doors while the doors are open. I have a feeling they will explode into tiny bits of paper.

Buying these, got the advice last night on another forum, as for amps since I'm starting off, I'm gonna get a little sony xplod and begin from there, maybe learn a bit about amps and so forth and move on to better things.
