Install question - DVD player

This isn't exactly a Maxima question, but since this is the most responsive forum I know of I thought I'd try here. I am installing an Audiobahn AVDVD35N DVD player in my Sequoia for the rear seat entertainment that has AM/FM, TV Tuner, and front panel inputs as well. As such, it has a connection for an AM/FM antenna that I hadn't planned on using. Anyway, I got it all hooked up but it won't turn on. Could this be because I don't have an antenna plugged in? I seem to remember that a headunit wouldn't even power on without it, but it has been a long time since I installed a headunit. If so, could I just cut the plug off of an antenna and hook it up to make it work, or will I have to run a connection to the truck's antenna?

As always, your help is very much appreciated.

***UPDATE***
Got it to work with no antenna. It turns out that a fuse was blown, but the way it blew it looked okay. Wish I could find an excuse to put a system like this in my Maxima, but no one ever rides in the backseat.
