What could it be?
I put a new system in my 4th gen on saturday and bought a tsunami amp kit to wire the amp and subs. Now for some strange reason after wiring the whole thing the amp won't play and there is power going to the cable plus its grounded properly. I even plugged the power wire to my friend's car and it wouldn't even start her system. could it just be the wire itsself? it's a Tsunami 4awg 800 watt amp kit.

Everything is installed. Remote turn on wire is installed and the fuse is properly installed. I did everything by the book. I'm going to try running the lead wire from the battery to a switch and then to the remote lead connected. I can't figure out why it's not turning on at all.
Sounds like it is the power wire, as you did try to connect it to her car and it didn't work. Did you fully remove it from you're car when you tried it on her car? Is it possible that you missed a loose connection somewhere?
She has a 4awg wire going to her system and what we did was we took the wire going from the battery to the fuse and connected it to the wire going from her fuse to her amp. We used my 60amp fuse first and then we used her 80 amp fuse next. No luck. Then we tried doing the same thing but in reverse (using her wire from the battery). Still no luck. I'm thinking my power cable has power but it's not giving out a strong enough current to power up the amp but I doubt that's it. I think it's just that it could just be sh*tty wires. I ordered a StreetWires kit and I'm going to see how that works out. Sad part is, if it is the wires, I can't return the Tsunami kit back to Circuit City. I've had it for like 60 days sitting in the box in my room. Now it's jumprope for my nieces.......great

Avn5435 Noob
I have to hijack this thread since I can't post yet. But I need help. I got an AVN5435 for my 99 Maxima. First of all Circuit City completely messed up everything. The illumination was not connected, the unit stuck out about an entire inch, and after 4 tries they could not find the VSS wire. Ultimately, they just said they would give me my money back for installation. So I went to a repuatable stereo shop here in Monterey, California and they really did a good job in fixing everything that Circuit City screwed up. Of course there is a "however." After driving around, it is apparent the VSS wire is connected as I am tracked and the speed sensor on the unit is functioning. However, I continue to get the annoying "CHECK SPEED PULSE" each time I go into navigation mode. It also comes on intermittently sometimes when the nav screen is on. Does this appear to be an installation problem, or a unit problem? Nonetheless, the stereo shop said they would take a look next week to see if we can fix this. I guess since I dropped so much cash on a unit, I want it perfect. Please any feedback for this noob would be great.
Did the amp power up but not the subs? I felt dumb after worrying about mine doing this but then realizing that I had the fader to where only my front speakers played. I faded it back and the subs started working.
Cant believe no one has asked this, have you had the amp working before? does this amp itself work? check remote wire too I've had a ****ty connection there before. But its also possible that the amp is faulty, does it have a light on it to indicate power or are you going by the fact that there is no sound?
IT's a MTX Thunder 3401 amp. I have a remote wire connected but it also has a SmartEngage so it picks up on a signal through the RCA cables also. I hooked up a Pioneer amp to see if it was the amp itsself but it wasn't. I checked out my wiring over and over.........and OVER again and I think it just might be the fuse holder connections. It might sound weird but I think that might be the problem. I'm going to try and change them today and if thats not it....NEW WIRES

Fuse holder is a definate possibility thats happend more than once lol. what the hell is SmartEngage? of course the amp picks up a signal from the rca's thats how they work, that would have no effect on the amp powering up though.
oh and you said you had another system to test it on in someone elses car. If you know that system works and the wiring is good, use THAT system to check YOUR amplifier, then you will know for sure that it's not the amp.
does the amp come on with the radio? ive accidentally hooked the remote wire to the power antenna line before by accident
if you're 100% positive everytihng is hooked up properly, take the amp out and bench test it.
