don, a lower f-stop will help create a blurred background, as with that rose pic i took in the first page of this thread.

well this is how you set the shutter speed and aperature value on the xt:

1) set the main top dial to M
2) the little wheel near the shutter will be used to set the shutter speed and aperature values. look at the LCD (or inside the viewfinder) as you turn the dial and you can see the shutter speed go up and down.
3) for aperature setting, press and hold down the Av+/- button on the back (top right iirc, near the LCD display), then turn the tiny wheel. again on the LCD you will see different aperature settings when you do this.

haven't messed with the xt for awhile, but pretty sure that's how you set it...

the 28-135IS is a good one and I bought it with my body a while ago for about 450$ at B&H, I also have the Tamron 28-105 F2.8 which is a beast (above).

How is that 50 f1.4?
430EX or 580EX, I recommend the 580EX unless you plan on never using multiple flashes.

yeah my backpack is almost done too, still need a few things here and there.
I like the additional aperture blades on the 1.4, but I almost never use my 1.8 on a CF body so it would be kind of a waste. Then again I shouldn't really be talking about that all things considered

uhhhh his focus where it needs to be, just needs to not be at f/7.1 and F/8 (respectively). With the reduced depth of field, if he brings the focal point any closer, only the brown textured area will be in focus.

Also since he is trying to show the radio, so only having the first 1/8-1/4 of it sharp isn't going to do much good

Hurray for L glass. 70-200 F4L is on my wish list because I'm too cheap for f/2.8 IS.

Yeah that's pretty much how mine looks with the 28-135IS on it. It is a pretty nice lense. I do hate my 75-300 F3.5-5.6 II USM though. It's a plastic piece of garbage.
