What speakers?

Ok I am sick of my stock BOSE speakers and wanna get some good ones. For my HU I am running an Eclipse AVX2404 and have 3 JL 10W3's. I am thinking about canning those eventually for something more compact but I am focusing on speakers first. What do you guys recommend? As far as price I am thinking no more than like $500. Sound OK? Let me know what you think.

What will be powering your components?

I meant to address that too. I will need to get another amp to power whatever speakers I get.

Inevitably this forum, including myself, is going to suggest Rainbow bang for the buck wise. You can pick up Soundline components and coaxials for well below your budget of $500 from the legendary moderator we have in this forum.

Its a very broad questions though, and theres really a million options out there. Have you heard any systems youve liked in the past? What kind of music do you listen to? Is your budget of $500 including the amp?

No one I really know has components in their car. I listen to an even mix of rock/rap that is basically it. As far as the amp goes I can swing some more for an amp if it will make a significant difference in quality.

The SLCs would be an excellent choice for a well rounded budget comp set. Very difficult to find a competitor within the respected price point. Although the CMXs being a bit more are well worthy of an audition.

How much do those run now s SLC a brand or a line? I wanna replace all of the speakers and am going to buy from you anyway, but I don't think anyone around me carries lines like the ones mentioned so I am basically buying on reviews. I will need the speakers and an amp how much would it all end up costing.

I think you will be happy witht he SLCs. I also bought them on Reviews... Just trust Don he kows his stuff. for ~$400 for speakers though you could get the germaniums and leave the bose in the back for rear fill if you want.

One of my rear's is shot though. So you are saying only get fronts and leave the rears?

I actually prefer having sound coming from the rears for my passengers but most people will tell you rears are not necessary and actually make the sound worse in terms of imaging etc... But I think you will be more than fine running the germs up front and nothing in the rears yet. You can get Rainbow SLs if you want around $120 for the rears though.

The Germaniums are a nice set. I went with Don's advice for this set and I am very glad that I did.

I am waiting to get some more prices from Don on the SLC's. I will consider the germaniums but I still need to put something in the rear because mine are shot and I need an amp too. What amps are out there?

I would also contact Don regarding an amplifier. Tell him what you are after and he will point you the right way...
