speakers not workin

speakers not workin

this happened on my friends car...her headunit powers up fine but there is no sound from the speakers...i checked all the wires to the headunit and everything seems fine...could it be a fuse somewhere?

thanks any help would be appreciated

What kind of car? Stock stereo? Upgraded /amped OEM? Need more details.

sorry about that...its not my maxima its my friends 98 explorer..she only has a kenwood headunit nothin else...when she bought the car it came with old pioneer speakers ...thats about all she has in it...someone who was'nt that good installed it a couple months ago and now it stops working..i looked at all the wiring and everything seems fine..i also checked all the fuses ...wut else could it be?

the blue with white tracer wire from the new unit needs to be hooked up to the amp turn-on wire from the car harness to power up the stock amps, othewise the deck would work, but no sound, like you described.

I would check at the radio unit to see if the speakers work. Grab a speaker and test it at the speaker output coming out of the headunit. If it works there, find out if the explorer came with a built in amplifier for the original speakers. Maybe a Bose system before aftermarket radio was put in???

If there's a built in amplifier, it might have crapped out. Might have to replace it or maybe run your own wire to the speakers. Locate the amplifier and check to see if there's power going to it.
