Double Din 6.5 navi/dvd/cd/reverse cam Hu

So i got sick of my bose sutting out, and i got a Hu, love it, it was kindof a pain in the *** toput in as far as getting the dash kit in place and etc.

It also left a small gap at the bottom in order for the thing to open and its as low as i was able to get the thing tostay.

The navi is awsome, screen changes colors acording to the time of day it is.

Its pritty easy to use to.

The touch screen is cool to, excep im still getting used to it

The revese camera is wired up but i didnt install it yet, but i have it wires to the reverse lights so the screen shows the input as soon as the car is put in reverse.

Pioneer AVIC D2

I just installed the Pioneer AVIC D2 a few days ago on my 96 Maxima SE. Like the above, it also has the small gap at the bottom of the HU, but looks fine (in my opinion). I love it!

I was going to put the HU in with a buddy of mine, but I found a knowledgeable-sounding tech on Craigslist who agreed to do it for less than $100. He thought it would only take a couple of hours, but it ended up taking him more than five. Glad it wasn't me! He even came to the house to install on site after I came home from work.

Installation turned out fine. One interesting thing. He didn't hook up the speed sensor after speaking with his rep from Pioneer. Everything seems to work fine without it. The AVIC GPS antenna looks/works fine on the passenger side dash.

I also asked the installer to incorporate the lockout bypass, which he did at no additional cost. (CarToys refused to do this for any price when I got their quote.)

Here's what was involved, budget-wise.

New AVIC D2 at etronics.com = $709
Scosche FAI-3A OEM Interface Adapter at cardomain.com = $30 (approx)
Scosche NN03 Car Stereo Wiring Harness at cardoman.com= $13 (approx)
Antenna adapter (required) bought locally = $30 (approx)
Installation < $100

I couldn't be happier. The AVIC D2 really defines the car experience for me and my passengers. I'm a little hungry for some of the additional features on other models (DVD video, bluetooth, etc.), but I was on a budget. For less than $1000 installed, my used car is a thing of envy. A big plus: I'll never get lost again.

I have the same unit. The navi/software is definately not perfect. Sometimes the bottom and top banners showing the current and the next location phase in and out. Also, it makes no adjustments for the truck lane (ie off ramps that are to the right in the car lane but left in the truck lane appear to the right on the screen). I've driven to the same place in the car lane on the NJTP and everything was on point. It's also sent me in circles a couple times and other times "I've arrived at my destination" when I was a couple turns away. So it's definately not perfect. However, for the money ($650ish on millionbuy.com now) it's pretty damn good.

+1 regarding the dash...the gap isn't a big deal.
