DLS SP12 Sub - Thoughts?

There's not much info on these subs out there. I was wondering what you guys thought of the SP12 and how it performs? Is it anything like say an IDmax or Flatline for SQ/SPL?

that is a really nice sub. Very efficant. I believe it would be in the relms of the FL and IDmax. you can run either way with it. Talk to Don about it. He will tell that it is a hell of a sub.

Well to hear you say that gives me a HUGE amount of confidence in these.
What kind of setup would you go with Don....vented or sealed?

And KUBLKMAX thanks for your input too......I can't wait to see what your new setup will be!

Sealed in my case. Very detailed musical driver. Of course very natural sound to boot coming from a paper cone.

Although if your going for ***** out SPL..ported with a couple hundred watts of juice will cave your chest in.

Since you have 2 Flatlines I'm sure you would go with 2 of these sealed as well. You would have no problems with volume. But how loud would 1 sealed driver get? Probably wouldn't be chest caving loud......but loud enough for those days when you want to feel it?

I dont have the FLs anymore...note the sig change. I swapped a couple weeks ago.

Believe me when I say just one of them with a bit of power will be more than enough. Im just staying with dual due to the time and money invested into my Birch enclosure. Not to mention the younger crowd customers than want to See two subs.

yeah its a 12.

songs? nothing out of the ordinary.

i think its either a bad vc, or its unloading. im going to basically 'plug' the port, to cancel out the possibilty that its the box tomarrow or thursday.

That's one hell of a beefy sub..even the tinsel leads are insulated and have connectors on them, wow.

Parag, how do you like it?

well if you plug the port then it'll just be one big sealed box...i would use caution though. it's easier to bottom out a sub in a sealed box than ported. how do you know it's unloading?

pretty good way to test the coils is with a meter. check the resistance of the coils.

yeah i know, i mean only temporarily to rule out the box. i realize this as well, I'll re-tune and see if it continues to do what its doing.

The coils seem to be okay...the thing is brand new, tho i realize that doesnt matter.

after a certain volume level, while sounding great, loud and everything, it just makes an awful *bulmp* sound, and shuts off for a second.. the only thing i can think of is that its unloading.

Deftpunk - I'll definately have pics once its ready.

Nilesh, I love it, the low end extension is fantastic. You'll get to hear it soon enough. Probably after it goes into the ported box though.
