Work In Progress

First of all...BIG THANKS to MANNY for the learning experience/help and sacrificing time from his family on a saturday. ALSO big thanks to Don for always hooking up the .org with great prices on sweet equipment.

Work in progress.....
This is the first layer of dynamat that you see....we will be cascading the door panel and doing another layer on the door itself.
We also dynamatted on the backside of the door skin.

That's a Iridium 8" midbass. =)

Midrange and tweets are in the kicks as of now....will get a picture of that soon.
Our helper for the day:

going to run them passive for now to see how I like it and for simplicity's sake. ...if not...it's time to get one more amp to run 3way active.............

More pics to come as I finish up the wiring and figure out where to put 4 crossovers!!!!!

Nice.

I want 8's! Anyone know how the Iridium 8 2-way components sound? I've only listened to the 3-way set.

i quite possibly will look into that, it seems that thats the new route alot of people are taking with the 8in in the door... doesnt really look like alot of modding needs to be done. did you need to enlarge the hole in the door, or did you just make a mdf ring?

Believe it or not...staging is GREAT with the speakers down there. I have to break it in a LOT MORE so we'll see. Hopefully Manny & Parag will chime in on their thoughts. It really seems like the imaging wouldn't be good there but it really sounds great. Thanks again to Manny for helping out A LOT with this install and DON for supplying the goods.

Yup the response is pretty flat from about 50/60 hz all the way up. I am surprised at how well the image arrives to almost eye level. It's a really great sounding set not quite as warm as I expected, I am assuming they will warm up a little once their broken in.

I'll be honest, the midbass is less than I expected, however I do believe it will change once they are broken in... my SLC's felt like they were lacking initially but I know better now .

Lol lets not get carried away... but I'm thinkin your 8's are going to gain in output quite a bit once broken in.

Yup yup can't wait to throw the sp12 in thurr. I think the sound quality is going to increase and should be able to play a more variable frequency being that its tuned to the sub.

I figured it would sound better than I thought because too many people go with applications with tweets mounted in the kicks, and seeing that I had to assume a properly setup comp set in the kicks would sound just as good if not better than with tweets in the a's.
