Please help

I have a 95 SE with the BOSE stereo.
I bought the car a year and 1/2 ago and the guy before me had some stereo upgrades (judging by the cables hanging out from everywhere) but when he sold it to me he took everything out and put the BOSE HU back in. Needless to say, there was no sound coming out of the speakers as the amps were bypassed. No worries so far as I had a spare HU (Sony) from another car.

Today I decided to replace the front speakers (almost no sound and when I do hear it it is very distorted). Since I had the tweeters from the BOSE stereo I wanted to try and use them.

I connected one speaker first to see if it works - everything was fine.
Then I checked my HU's (Sony CDX-MP70) manual and it stated that under no condition should I wire speakers in parallel - the unit is not stable at 2 ohms.
I wired both speakers and tweeters in series but now I only hear highs from the front speakers.
My guess is that there is some kind of crossover on the way that limits the lower frequencies.

My question is if there is a way to bypass the crossover or any other way to do this install.

I guess that if I wire the speakers in parallel I might be able to bypass it but again that is against what the HU's manual says.
