Ground and + 4 AWG wires in trunk problems.

I got a 99 Maxima with a sub box that houses 2 x 12" subs. I have the amp and the cap mounted on the rear of the sub box. I always have problems with the damn 4 awg comming disconnected, either from the amp... or the ground I use. (the ground I use it top of the strut) What is the best connectors to connect and stay connected (even if pulled on a little) for my 4 awg wire to the top of the strut. OR is there a better place to mount the ground to avoid this problem?

are the connectors crimped on correctly? it shouldn't just come out if the crimp is strong or the bolt connecting your grounds are good.

i have my ground bolted to sheet metal in the spare tire well.

use a table vice ($20 @ lowe's) to crimp the connectors assuming that they are made for crimping

and make sure your equipment is secure so it isn't holding on the wire for its dear life

thanks for the input. I think if i try to ground it using the "inside the spare wheel place" I wont run into the problem of too much stress being places on the wires when i push and secure my sub box into place. I bought the "posh" (so i thought) monster connectors (the ones where use use a alan key to screw the wire in place).

I have used the crimped solutions before and found the results to not be as good as the screw in type.

I think I just need to stare at my trunk for another hour and choose a better design to incorporate my equipment.

take a picture of what you're talking about, it would really help us help you.

make sure you have a decent amount of slack for all your wires, and make sure your sub box doesn't move around..

you shouldn't have any issues if the wires are attached securely to the amp.. as long as all the above mentioned is corrected..

you shouldn't ground to the strut bolt.. you can use the rear seatbelt bolt, or the left side vertical panel as ascendant said (this makes for a kinda long ground usually tho), or you can drill a hole around your wheel well area there for a good ground. wherever you choose, make sure its clean scraped silver metal you're attaching to
