Got a new sub...

Found a good deal on an ARC 15 and I couldn't help but try it out. I dropped it right into my AVA box which is about 2.4 cuft gross. And of course in the pix, my foot is in there unintentionally. Enjoy. 1st impression: I need some more testing time, but thus far the ARC is tighter, but does not drop as low and is not as loud with the settings unchanged. We shall see.

more pics! (of the sub, not your foot)

i'd imagine the sub was taller from the pics online.

actually almost dead even...I thought from the pix prior to getting it, the ARC was taller, but basically even not including the gasket heights.

After about 30 minutes of ear time and listening to tracks I am familiar with on the AVA, I am thoroughly impressed with this sub. It is tighter than the AVA, and drops about 90% as deep as the AVA does. Output is in favor of the AVA, but not by much. I will have an "actual" review of the sub by next week.

haha...the sub drops low, but after listening to more rap, the AVA owns sub 40hz bass. However, the SQ on the ARC is better. It plays double bass and trance music with ease.
My gf said to me tonight "The bass sounds like its coming from everywhere, kinda like surround sound". I was imnpressed she could tell a difference, so I guess the SQ is def. better.

Nice sub . I did like the sound that my Arc 12 put out.

I am really enjoying my RL-p too....just put it in a little bit bigger enclosure.

what are you tuned to? My old ported box @ 35 was very punchy. This was partialy due to every frequency being louder because its ported, and the peak I had from about 40-55hz.

right now, 28 Hz. played around with the sub calc again, and i found ill gain a few more db's and better midbass if i bring it up to around 32 Hz. going to be adjusting so this week some time.

your sub had a role in it being punchy.

You probably have more wattage going to your subs than each of them and you call them bass heads.... let alone the fact that you're running 2 subs vs their 1 each... hehehe

xbl2 is good..but you also had a 12..and I have a big body 15. But yeah, the Xbl2 isnt that bad for punchiness, but typically with xbl2 comes a heavy motor which decreases sensitivity, etc. I actually think my AVA ported was punchier than in the sealed box the arc is in right now.

Why have such a big motor just to drive the speed limit? I like to have a lil extra to play with.
