Want new setup...help...

Okay so I've finally decided to do another sound system(after I got jacked for my last one). And wanted to get some general feddback from orger's. Heres what I'm looking for. A double din nav unit(Eclipse?), headrest monitors (maybe), set of comps for front stage, two (2) 8" or 10" subs (AA's?)in custom box but has to be 10" depth(no IB), and possibly two amps . My budget is about $2500 now. Have Blose now.

The double din is going to put a hurting on the rest of your system as far as the budget goes, but it is still do-able. With headrest monitors (of a decent brand) also factored into that $2500...your speakers will be on the crappy side.

Its also VERY hard for random people to flat out tell you exactly what youll want. Everyones ears are different, and there are millions of brands out there, each of which has its own following and enthusiast for various reasons.

Since it sounds like youve already decided on Eclipse for the double din, which is the best choice, check the for sale forums here because our lovely moderator here has some for sale for very good prices.

I can bypass the head rest TVs for now not a major concern. The headunit, and speakers come first. then amp. My tastes are pretty much all over, but majority is R&B/Pop/Rock/ some Metal and the occasional Rap.

They can sound very good in the right box, well actually in any box they sound pretty descent. I just finished a TL with a compression chamber for a single 8 off 300 watts. It plays completely flat from 20-60HZ, very punchy and transparent. Sounds incredible. Its big (something like 2.5 cubes gross) but its totally worth it. Look out for a thread tomorrow...

Hold off on the headrest TV's. I've had mine for years now and they have less than a week's worth of use on them. Everyone seems to like watching through the seats instead. Nice show item, but not needed otherwise. It's one of my bigger regrets, although I don't really have regrets. I only keep them cause it's not worth much to sell used.

It's an addiction I'm sure Juan is thinking of trying to satisfy. Being an audio junkie ain't easy, especially when you always want something else to satisfy that urge to put more into the car.

The monitors were for a little peace while driving . Take a few 500 miles trips (one way) with a couple little ones and you'll see what I'm talking about. I remember them asking me if we were almost there.. a couple of times... this was even before we left San Diego County.

That is def the problem with two youngins and about 250 miles to grandma's house one-way, the TV would be a great babysitter. I mean you can only go so long with "That's my car game"

Bypass the subs also. Instead get some solid 3-way components for the front with an equally solid amp and head unit with 24-bit DAC. That's all you need, and that's exactly what Don is gonna be installing my car soon.
