How hard is it to tap into the VSS line on a 99 maxima?

I'm about to buy the Alpine remote mount navi (yeah I know it costs alot, but I like it, dammit!) from Crutchfield. I know their techs can provide info on where the line is, but I'd like to get a feel here on how easy it is to get to and where it is. I've installed my head unit, speakers, amps, processor, etc., so I think this shouldn't be too hard. I searched the forums, but didn't find much useful info.

Thanks in advance.

Very, very easy. More time consuming than difficult.

Is it in the cabin or engine bay?

In the cabin, behind the instrument cluster.

I found a PDF copy of the Nissan service manual for my car. It looks like the VSS has 2 wires that connect to the "combination meter" (looks like this is the instrument cluster itself). They are labeled "BR/W" and "LG/B" - The manual shows these translate to Brown/White and Light Green/Black. Which of them do I tap into?

Thanks for your help, btw.

One would think that to be correct, but Ive always found it to be Pink/Blue.

Hmm, here are the listings for the wires going into/out of the Combination meter:
Yellow/Blue - Battery
Green - Ignition
Pink/Blue - "To EC-VSS, AT-A/T, EL-ASCD, HA-A/C,A" (this is the one you mean)
Brown/White - Vehicle speed sensor
Light Green/Black - Vehicle speed sensor
White/Green - Tachometer
Orange/Blue - Fuel tank gauge unit
Blue/Black - Thermal Transmitter
Black - Ground

Maybe the VSS has the 2 wires that go into the Combination meter, then the Pink/Blue is going into the cruise control, etc?

In any case, for the reverse, do you just tap into the reverse lights in the trunk area? (I'll be mounting the navi in the trunk)
