what would you use it to deaden? I have done the rear shelf, and the four doors. Under the back seat? start the trunk door? the bottom of the trunk? i'm not totally against ordering some more material, but i wanna get rid of some road noise now.

Trunk lid. Definitely.

If you want to get rid of road noise, do under the rear seat and the top of the rear wheel wells. I didn't realize how much noise came into the cabin from that area.

This is a pretty good qustion. Could you get by with 40? It depends. I couldn't. I used roughly more than that in my trunk. I covered everything though. Every nook and tiny space. It is detailed in the deadener sticky. I do know people that have done it with 36sq ft, but there were spots that IMHO, needed to be covered and weren't. The best way to tell is to dive in and do it. If you come up short, buy more. It is as easy as that. I used over 240sq ft for the whole car BTW. I have recently added more to seal off certian areas where air was leaking out. In all fairness, few paople take it as far as I did.

I agree that 40 feet is not enough. Originally I ordered that much and had some spots left in my trunk that were not covered....

Trunk lid or another layer on rear deck. You did layers top and bottom of rear deck right?

About 60-70 sq ft single layer. If you plan to double up over the wheel wells, the add another 5sq ft

i'm not sure i understand why doing the underside of the trunk door would reduce much noise. wouldn't deadening the bottom of the trunk help eliminate road noise from the trunk, this quieting the interior?

I guess my main concern is a quieter interior, not so much improved sound. make sense?

Rattles. Not so much road noise, but rattles. The trunk lid is VERY flimsy and deadening it will help with the bass response in the trunk (with or without subs)

if your concern is road noise, the deadener won't do much. invest in some type of a foam barrier.

Ummm, I humbly disagree. There are several people here that have been in my car pre and post deadening. The road noise reduction was the number one reduction I experienced. Throughout the installation process, we would take test drives down a gravel road nearby. Coupled with a few XXXmph runs on a back country road, we noticed a HUGE improvement in reducing road noise in the cabin. I could actually have a conversation at those speeds w/o raising my voice at all. I could sit and site examples all night, but I don't want to bore everybody.
