880PRS VS CD7100 Comparo

So I recently went from a DEH-P880prs to an Eclipse CD7100. I can tell you now that I do miss a few features that the 880 had that the CD7100 either doesn't or I have yet to tap into.

1) Independant speaker level control - 880 has it, cd7100 does also.

2) Independant phase control for each speaker - 880 has, cd7100 doesn't.

3) Full subwoofer control - Level, phase, mono or stereo output - Pio has all CD7100 only has Phase and Mono vs. stereo setting.

4) 15band eq on 880 was very nice, the 11 band PEQ seems to be more customizable and a great feature, I definately prefer the PEQ over the 15-Band with the customizability.

5) 880 only had the 15band, CD7100 has Bass, Mid, Treble controls as well as the PEQ. This is a nice touch.

6) 880 has no built in aux and no built in USB, CD7100 has both but the interface is kind of blah on the USB and I have not yet tried out the AUX though.

7) 880 full subwoofer control - CD7100 Non fade with no level control when in 3-way mode, Non-fade can be adjusted +_6 when in 4sp + subwoofer mode.

8)Area shot feature - this is a pretty neat feature to throw into the mix that Eclipse has. I got it to work the other day and am very impressed with it. It's a good backup feature but along with it I would always keep a couple of backup maps etc. Works well though.

9) 880 comes with a Mic, CD7100 does not, not THAT big of a deal however it is nice to know that you don't have to purchase anything additional in order to run the auto TA's etc.

880's intereface is straight forward and very easy to use. The CD7100 is a bit more complicated and I feel as though I have yet to tap into the full number of features that it has or am just not sure how to use them yet.

Here's the most important part - SQ -

I think there's no question that the CD7100 has better SQ. There are just things I noticed right off the bat without any tuning that give the CD7100 the edge in that regard.

I also find that the Audiocontrol Matrix that I originally purchased to increase the level of the 880's outputs is no longer necessary. The Eclipse has much stronger outputs with no know noise issues like the 880 has.

Those are my impressions so far, maybe more to come if I find more features etc.

I thought the 880 did have an aux input. What's the input on the bottom of the face?

Good stuff. I would almost 100% agree. I can't get the CD7000 back, so I will be purchasing another. It will go in the car for a while so I can play with both. The other will end up in the truck.

Oh let me add
10) cd7100 lets you adjust TA in steps by millis second, pio only does this by distance in either centimeters or inches

11)E-iSERV data can be uploaded from either the unit to the pc or the pc to the unit and you're able to fine tune right from your pc. You can setup a flat FR by adjusting the PEQ on-line and saving to USB then uploading that data to the HU, you are then unable to adjust any of the TA settings on the UNIT itself, which is fine, just a quirk.

Most likely the 7000. I have no need for 8V. Yes, he likes it alot. He said I could have it back if I wanted, but if he is that happy, I will just have to buy another.

I'd have to agree with most of what was said. I ran my Fantom Face 7897 Alpine for the last 4 years and just switched to the CD7100 about 4 days ago.

1. The only thing I saw on individual speaker volume was the ability to adjust DB under time alignment.
2. Not sure if my alpine had independant phase control either never looked.
3. Subwoofer controls would be nice.
4. Alpine only had 5 band I beleive so definate upgrade
5. Havn't seen any mid, bass, treble controls yet.
6. Hopefully the USB works good that's why I bought mine for. And SQ
7. Don't have my sub quite it yet so havn't played with that.
8. Area Shot, why? They should have added a usefull feature given the type of HU no gimmicks needed.

Overall I like it. It does sound a little cleaner but it definately takes some getting used to. Certain features that I havn't found yet is a pause button. It seems to take forever to read my CD, it is scratched up pretty bad but the alpine never had a problem or hesitation. So overall I'm not impressed with the HU itself but the sound is good. I'm sure some would say that my alpine was complicated but I've been dealing with alpines for 15 years so I was probably used to how they were setup.

If you hit the center button on the rotary control it'll take you to bass mid and treble controls if you are in 3-way mode (also loudness, SVC control as well [in 3-way mode] and NF setting if you are in 4 sp + sub mode). So far my experiences with the USB have been great. I like it alot and it works well. Not the fastest in the world but it reads mp3's pretty fast.

Also noticed that the HU has to be mounted further out to fit my dash kit properly and to be able to open it without rubbing anything. Right now I have to leave the trim ring out until I get a chance to re-mount the HU.

You will not get anything near the level of tuning that the CD7100 provides with the 5100. If that is what you are after, I would save a little more and go for the 7100.

I agree with Juan, 7100 all the way if you need any high level of tuning.
