Great News

Great news, for everyone that will ever decide to replace their stock deck in a 2007 Maxima. You just found out, from me, that the 7550 Metra harness does not fit the factory harness.

As, for me, I now have no radio and am extremely #@%!$#%#$%@#$^#$^@#$%@T#%@$%^% and have no clue what I'm going to do with this new head unit, now. I sure as hell can't afford to replace the speakers too right now.

Now is an excellent time to splice into the factory harness and use a test light to find what wire is what. Then its time to break door backing clips and plastic trim pieces as you manually run wires to your doors and back deck to your headunit!

The factory harness connectors use small pins. The metra connectors have wide plate-like pins. Won't even fit the brackets, either.

Edit: According to Metra, I need the 7552 kit. Just as well. Can't find the mounting kit, locally, either. Local shop said it's a special order item. There's no way I can mount the unit without a large gaping hole in my dash if I don't use the dash kit. So, guess I'll order both and wait till next week. Stock sound, until then /cry.

On a side note, after putting the factory stuff back in and reassembling the dash/hookups I now have a temp sensor that constantly reads 0 deg. Interesting.

That, and I listened to the Best Buy car audio guy regarding something other than what's in stock. That qualifies as idiot

here is what u do, the kit u bought must have came with the instructions that tell u what wire is what, all u do is find out which wire is what on ur max, then cut and solder to the kit adapter...if the problem is what i think it is.

That's not the problem, but thanks. It's the adaptor end of the Metra harness. It's not matched to the factory harness. Will do the install next week, when the kits arrive.

Hah! Remember how you warned me against the dash? I ended up slicing my finger on the deck's sleeve
