What compares well to JL XR650?

I'm just investigating replacing my Bose system to aftermarket. I need the space in the trunk, so no sub. I'm was looking at a good set of 6.5" in the doors of my new '03. Components up front and Coax in back. The JL Audio's XR650 looks & sounds like it will work.
Is there anything else comparable to the JL XR650?
Options?
Advice?

Cheers

Rainbow SLC 265 comps, and SL65 rears (not that you'll need them with a strong front stage). These are better sounding drivers and more bang for you buck than the JLs. You're going to be amping the components either way, right??

contact Don, Pearl96Max for all your rainbow needs.

Yes amping all 4 channels. I don't believe there is any other way if I'm looking at full range speakers.
Now there's another question...without going crazy how many watts/channel should I be looking at? I'm currently looking at either a Clarion or Alpine amp from anywhere of about 90 to 150 watts/channel. Is there a minimum (or optimal) with the Rainbows?

they reccomend 75, but they really shine with 100-150. i have 150w running to mine currently, gains conservitally set, and they sound great..

alpine makes pretty reliable and clean amps. pick up a 4 channel, and bridge the channels to the front, and see how you like it, rears you can just run off the HU (there really isnt any point to them).. most people have it this way. or you can just run all 4 in stereo and if you like it better, then great.
