audio experts ...need confirmation
if a 4 channel amp (good amp lets say) is rated 100x4 watts at 2ohms ....it would require me to have (2)4ohm speakers wired in parrallel per channel ...correct...now all in all this means i could have 8 total speakers running at 100 watts each ...or is there something im missing...

wheather or not the amp can handle it is up to the amp...which amp do you have? 8 subs on 1 amp with on ly 100x4 @ 2ohm's prob ain't the best idea. Your gonna split the power so much the sub will be way low on power and you not gonna get the output you think you will.

You will not be getting the full 100x4. Also the amp is stable down to 2ohm mono which is good for a 4 channel amp, most can only do 4ohm mono, so it shouldn't have a problem pushing 8 speakers. If you are just planning on powering some componenets or coaxials, and are not a big music fanatic I say go for it. It should work fine.

The car doesn't see two different voltages. Most companies rate their amplifiers at a higher voltage because the output looks better on paper. You car is supposed to have a constant, I believe 12.6 or 13.6 volts one of those. I never said he has to upgrade, I just let him know he will not get the full 100x4 watts.
Acually when the car is off you have around 12.4 to 12.7 volts depending on the cars charging system and battery. When you drive the car it can go up to around 14.4 but will ave at ave speed around 13.8. Again all depends on the charging system.
Yes you are right. I was typing in a hurry. I meant the differnce between a running car and a stopped one is not as big as 12.0 to 14.4 volts. Lets get back to the topic: can he run 8 speakers? yes. Will he get 50x8 watts? probably not. But having 30-40 clean RMS watts to each speaker should work just fine for him. It is mutch more then any headunit can put out.
Running 8 speakers with one amp physically dectates that he will not get 100 watts to each. Can he do it yeah. Should he...it depends on the plan. So with that said what is the EXACT plan.
If you plan to run 4 midbass 2 midrange and 2 tweets with passive x overs it will be fine. If however you just run a bunch of mid's together it's not gonna work.

Because any sound wave above 300 hz is directional...with midranges is different locations will cause a distortid image..meaning you will get "dealy" or "reverb" (are the best discription type words) similar to sound coming from alot of locations...it would be louder becuase you double the cone area if thats what he is after...but the sound would just be odd. Unless he takes massive and I do mean masive time to place speakers in very well placed locations with time delay, phases, and power properly adjusted crossover point etc. it woun't be right. It's prob not fair to say "it woun't work" It could but takes a whole lot.(Bobby Hilgardner has alot of speakers)and he took well over 200 hours to make it work i can assure you. And from what ive seen on here i dont think we have those kind of people...but i could be wrong, maybe we have alot of people like that.
Oh, I thought you meant that it wouldn't work period. I agree, there is no need for eight speakers unless they are components.(4 midbass + 4 tweets) Or if you like to listen to your car stereo while you clean your house.
