Question for those who know MB Quart speakers...

Can someone tell me differences within MB Quart component speakers productline? IMO- I guess its good that they have an extensive line of products but find it somewhat confusing.

Obviously Q Series are their top of the line competition stuff.
Any performance/quality differences bet/ their Autobaun, Reference and Referenz Premium Series?

Thanks in advance guys.

I used to have set of MBQ's in a truck of mine. They were sweet. I really liked them and at that point those were the best components that I had ever had. I really like my JL's that I have now though. It may just be the install and the car, but these jl's sound better than those mbq's. My guess would have to be the car and installation, but who knows. I have the three way set in my truck. The 6.5's in the doors and a 4" mid and tweet in a set of custom kick panels. Now if I had those set up in my car, i'm sure it would sound great but right now, I don't want to bother with custom kick install again. that was the most time consuming process I have ever undertook.

From what I rember though yes the Q's are the top of the line. The PSC (think that's the model numbers) are the next in line, then the referenze and then the autobaun. Remember that is has been a couple of years though, so I don't know for sure if that's how they go.

Wish I could be more help.

what is it you wanna know exactly...i can help you as i'm part of team mbquart.
qsd's are top of the line q's are next...so forth..you get what you pay for. Personally the q's are about as good as you can get even better than the qsd's even mbquart president thinks my q's sound better than the qsd's.

This is what I have...

Alpine SPR-175A 6.5" R-Series Component Speakers
- 200W Peak, 50W RMS, In-Line Crossover
- Frequency Response: 35Hz~35kHz

To my ears, the Alpines hit decent highs, but mid-range bass output could be better.

I'm eyeing the MB Quart PSC 216 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers as an upgrade or a low end Focal like (Focal 165 V 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers) for under $300.

What do u think?

can't speak too much on the focal's since I have only heard them once a long time ago. as for the mbq's that is essentially the same set i have with but mine had the 4" mid. honestly i still think you might want to give the jl audios a listen. as for mid bass and bass response, the jl's are the best i've heard. do you have a local retailer that sells these? if so, just take your favorite cd's in and listen to all the sets they have to see wich ones YOU like better.

Re: This is what I have...

I think you got the right idea looking at the quarts 6.5...quart provides highs unsurpased if you want alot they give it and with a touch of turning it down it's very smooth. quarts also provide very tight punchy midbass...as for the focals ive been very surprised by there low level entry stuff...nice smooth highs however from what your saying i don't think it will give you the middbass you are looking for it tends to be much smoother and needs more tuning to get the level up but never really is hard on the attack.
Hope this helps you some if you'd like more feel free to write me or post here.

I have the PSC 216 6.5" in the front.
Really good. Got some MBQuart 6X9s in the back with a JL Audio
stealthbox.

I think the PSC216 would sound awesome in kick panels in terms of staging.

When I lean over and put my ears in between both seat towards the dash, the sound staging is beautiful -- almost unreal. Vocals just become so alive !!!

I recommend against MB quart. The tweeters are VERY bright unless at -3/-6 and mounted off axis. In my opinion there is a lot more speakers for less money that will sound better. Diamond Audio M3, A/D/S 2 series coaxials, Entry level Focal and CDT.

Thats not true with quarts anymore...there was a time that was true but not really now(im not sure why people keep saying it) Diamonds are nice but lack some life but are good. Entry level focals are nice but i don't think they have the punchy midbass she was asking for. Cdt is good but not great.
