1) If you want an external amp or processor, which I assume you do since you have a cap, YES.
2) I would help you with this but my Alumapro is much simpler, and I can't find the instructions for a conventional capacitor. But I am sure that it is on the www at least 100 times in english. Probably on the links from the top post, "car audio FAQ's", or something like that.

i'm in the same boat as jmax, except i have the phoenix gold power core (but the internal is from alumapro) neways
to charge a capcitor.. you'll need a resistor... if you have a test light, then ti should work.. what u do is, you hook up ground on your capacitor, then you take the test light, clamp on end of it onto 12V (you dont' connect the 12v on the capcitor yet) then u touch the probe onto the capacitor and wait til the light goes out on the test light.. should take a few min.. adn then u can connect the 12v cable onto the capacitor.. to discharge it.. u wannd be real careful.. disconnect the positive batter terminal.. make sure it does not touch ne metal or else you'll prolly get hurt.. neways.. open your doors and the dome light adn stuff shoudl drain out your capacitor.. i don't really like working with capacitors. they're scary... anyways...
if you in anyway harm yourself during the isntall, it is your responsibility, and i'm not at fault. i shall NOT be responsible for any property damage, bodily injury, or death that is caused by your install...
neways.. g'luck..
