Does anyone know how to unlock the display mode of the cva-1005 to allow you to make adjustments to the levels without having to pull over, stop the car, and pull the e-brake?

All depends, I can give you a number to a person that makes a box that will overide Alpine's security feature. It will set you back some $$$. Alpine also sells their own chip to dealers, but good luck there. What you need to do is make a switch that is grounded for the brake pedal. Then you have to have a switch that is open, then grounded, then open, then stays grounded. That's what you need to do. You can easily make a toggle switch.

md53: "why thank you xtant"
k there ya happy? hehehe. i did a rocker switch on mine. but ya know how alpine also has a safety feature against taht too. to get into the aux 1 screen i hafta step on the brakes, turn off the e-brake by pass switch and on again, and release the brakes.. i'm sure i can get another rocker switch for that. but does the chip just get rid of all that all together? and now that my speed sensor is hooked up an i'm screwed??? well thanx in adavnce for whomever answers my question.

you shouldn't have to apply the brake at all, because all the brake pedal does is ground, so all you have to do is ground that wire and make the rocker switch toggle between open-ground-open-ground and stay grounded. the box will do all this for you, but since you already have the switch then there is no need. thanks for taking on md53, i was going to email him, but he has no email available.

No, the ebrake needs to be switched, the brake needs to be constantly grounded. I will ask my friends back home if that will effect the navigation but it shouldn't. I don't see what effect it could have.

video mode

Help, my video mode isn't working. I think everything is hooked up right, it just doesn't engage. Since the time change, I have the wrong hour on the clock. Also, with the switch, how do you do it? I have everything hooked up the way it's told by Alpine, so what do I have to do? Ground the brake, what about the ebrake. How do I install the switch, does it have to be connected to ebrake at all? Please give me details.
