Fuse problem...

My friend's got a 92SE. He has the car type fuse holder with a 30amp fuse. 10 guage wire ran to the trunk.

He use to use a DHD amp bridged hooked up to a 12inch MA audio dual voice coil sub running at 2ohm. He said it would cut off while he had the music on and when he checked the amp it was extremely hot.

I let him use an old crossfire 2x200 amp which is hooked up the same way running the speaker at 2ohm.

Now when he bumps the music, his fuse will pop. Does anyone know the problem? Does he need a better fuse block and bigger fuse?

Please help

What is the resistance on each voicecoil of the sub? Sounds like the DHD amp can't take that low of resistance. Does the fuse pop right away, or only when he turns it up loud?

Only when he turns it up loud. DHD amp would cut out and the crossfire amp would blow the fuse

check the specs on the DHD amp and see if it can run a 2 ohm mono load.. not a lot of amps can run that much power.. if not, just wire each coil of the sub to each channel of the amp, and see if that fixes the problem..

but with the crossfire amp, you need bigger power wire AND a bigger fuse. my PPI 150x2 amp has a 60amp fuse from the factory, and if yours is 200x2.............
